Apparently there’s only 19 ICU beds in the BR area right now... that seems hard to believe. Is BR taking on patients from other parts of the state? It seems like back in March/April when they had a higher # of hospitalizations and the ICU’s weren’t that strained?

So we are minus 43 in the hospital?
Yeah, but 40 of them died

On any given day before the pandemic struck, Chief Operating Officer Stephanie Manson says the hospital’s ICU could handle approximately 70 patients, with the possibility of surging up to 80 during peak times. As it stands Thursday, July 23, the ICU has 124 patients, 40% of which have COVID-19.

Serious question... Is the virus getting weaker or do our hospitals have more knowledge on treating the virus because one is obviously happening..

Idk of anyone can answer that definitively, but seems to me like a combination of a much younger infection group this time as well as medical professionals better understanding how to treat it.

But how many of the negatives in the hospital died and are now also counted in the deaths number?
Posted on 7/26/20 at 2:39 pm to andwesway
nothing that we do will stop this virus. obviously shutting down will drop #s of cases, but as soon as shite opens back up they will go back up

Both.

That’s the best single number in more than a month. Maybe the mask mandate is having an impact. This week could be really good.

That’s bad.
But they weren’t replaced with new patients. . That’s good.

I just don’t get why there are lots of people and posters on this board that can’t understand this and still harp on case numbers.

Hospitalizations are increasing ventilators are increasing it only makes sense that cases are increasing and there are no duplicates.

It's clear we are on downside of this wave.
Have all areas been hit?
Orleans/JP yep
BR got it pretty good
Lafayette got it good
Lake Charles got it good
Shreveport ?
Monroe?
If so, we are done with this. And like the NE states will see a death here and there going forward.
By December I think this is completely over.

JBE is fuming right now at hospitlizations.
I think he’s only fuming at those who fail to take this seriously and those who spread misinformation. Other than that he seems fine.

Such an educated guess. Nobody knows either way.

Is NYC done?
Looks like it.
They had a day last week with zero deaths.
Sweden is done.
We just gotta get infections to herd threshold in all areas of the state.
