We gonna shut down every flu season? Something we HAVE A VACCINE FOR that still kills tens of thousands every year.

This will 100% happen from now on, especially if the November elections don't come out "the correct way"

I get the logic.
However, I suspect most kids going to in person school.
Have been playing sports, camps, playdates, etc already.
These aren't the kids who've been locked up.

We shall see.

One of my neighbors had to have EMS called Tuesday
He is pretty sick with pneumonia, I am not sure where EMS took him but he was transferred to an ICU bed in NO because there were none in BR

I am curious who makes that call & if insurance or lack of enters into the decision

if Trump wins, you actually believe that we will shut the country down every flu season from now on?

at this point, you are just as much of a fear monger at the COVID fear mongers

Brighton school closed for flu

Ascension scrubbed schools during fall break

Flu closing schools for a few days for cleaning is nothing new
Weird how parents never freaked out

No, I think we will see shutdowns become far more common. Not every year, but they will be a tactic that is employed.

Not really. This has been used as a political weapon with heavily manipulated data. I don't know how else to describe it at this point.

I don’t think it has anything to do with Trump but I think state health agencies will close nursing homes during bad flu outbreaks

Well you literally said that is what would happen in your previous post

Not really.

Please. How is saying "if we don't elect the right person, they will shut down the country every year" not fear mongering?

It has definitely been politicized. No argument there.

Although I don't think the data has been manipulated near as much as some of y'all think. The data is just being interpreted in different ways, which unfortunately has been divided along political lines.

She says the numbers they are seeing in Orleans and Jefferson are spectacular, but she is expecting one more large wave statewide in mid to late September after schools open up. She’s been right every time. We will see.

A "wave" of cases means absolutely frick all at this point, which for the most part is what we've been seeing during this "second wave."

The media was wishing so hard for Arizona, California, Florida, and Texas, and much of the rest of the South, to turn into New York and New Jersey, but their wish wasn't granted.

Basically looking at a "casedemic" right now.

Test more, find more...panic...rinse & repeat.

Gonna get an explanation that the no fans for the Saint opener could have been avoided if we had obeyed him earlier and if we fail to obey him any more, he will ban fans in Tiger Stadium. Do you understand? And I don't wanna hear any backtalk.

I swear when he has these press conferences I feel like he's talking to 5 year olds.

Ok, I was being hyperbolic. Jesus Christ, I thought that was evident to normal, socially adjusted human beings.

Again, you've extrapolated an obvious hyperbolic statement

bullshite. I've heard from medical professionals who straight up say the data is being blatantly manipulated. Like getting positive results for people who were registered to get tested and left before getting tested because it was taking to long.

While I can’t see anyone reacting like this to flu, we can’t rule out anything. You and I both know anyone who would have said we’d be in this situation last March would have been called “hysterical.”

This is a great post

If I told Salmon in March the Dems would still want schools closed, restaurants closed, etc, he would have called me a hysterical fear mongering trumpkin

Hell, I can't remember a time when I was in school that school was shut down due to it being too cold or there was a prediction of severe thunderstorms. That shite happens multiple times a year now. The only thing we got out of school for was hurricanes.

This will be a precedent.
