The ventilator percentage had been riding at around 10% of the cases. Seems to be trending down. But yeah it's still alarming.

wonder how much temperatures and social distancing is actually playing a role in transmission. Kind of hard to say with the current data.
When the numbers dipped Monday, people laughed and said the quarantine is working and the people saying this is like the flu should shut up. And then it spiked yesterday and they were quiet. Today’s new cases and deaths are less than yesterday, so those people will be back saying the quarantine is working again. Except not in Nola of course. They can’t explain that.

I don’t understand. Were they expecting more deaths?

Death count was at the top of the projected range yesterday. We were hoping that was simply a hanging chad from a low number of test results released from the weekend. Today's number at the low end of the projected range suggests that may be the case but it is not certain.

the people dying today were more than likely infected before schools were even closed though

so the death numbers are not reflecting any of the shut downs yet

How the hell did St Landry parish run basically the same amount of commercial tests as Jefferson?

New Orleans' curve is dramatically flatter than the rest of the state's.

Yep. Just saying that each side chooses to ignore certain talking points and incorrectly use others regardless of what the data actually means.

You need to trend in logarithmic instead of linear

The visual tells a lie though. New Orleans is what percentage of the state population? They are what percentage of the total cases on a day to day based?

I would guess that a significant percentage of Jefferson patients are going to Orleans for testing.

Could the really high numbers Monday have been a function of labs not reporting results over the weekend?

That’s exactly what they are. The weekends have resulted in consistently lower mondays.

The real question is will warmer temperatures effect transmission? You can’t find a straight answer for this as no one really knows. But overall cases throughout the world based on location suggests it does to a degree. If this is like other coronaviruses we might see a drastic fall off in a few weeks. It’s not to suggest that this will happen in overly populated areas.
