What would be interesting to see is the overall number of non-homicide, non-accidents deaths and how that's changed since this started.

If anyone gets sick on the Northshore and needs to go to a hospital do not go to North Oaks. Just warning you now. That is one of the worst hospitals I've had pleasure of being around in SE LA.

Ok. The number tested.... Does that include yesterday's total????? If it does that makes no sense since there are no results back yet.

The #’s released are completed tests from what I understand

My one anecdotal data point says it's still double that in some places as of this morning.
Probably depends on the location, size of hospital, and the lab which is running the tests.

Ok that's what I was looking for. You can't post a number from yesterday without results if you want an accurate number. Yesterday's test results mean nothing right now.

I believe numbers tested only count for those that have a result. Which means there is a severe lag on these numbers.

Just found out my Mamaw is at East Jeff in the covid unit, tested positive yesterday. She turns 88 next Saturday, has pneumonia and is on oxygen and meds right now. She's been on dialysis for years. Worst thing about it is she has to fight this thing alone.

It takes longer for people to die than to confirm cases, so we could be seeing a flattening of cases even with the death total rising.
I’m not sure of the difference in days, but it means we could be seeing a slow down of deaths soon.

(I would assume these are the total number of test that have been given since the beginning of testing)

I mean take out your 17 year old and 39 year old if you want. Then take out another 10.
That still puts us at 107 dead in Louisiana. A 3.9% death rate.

It should extremely concerning that a place like Louisiana is spiking so dramatically in numbers. Granted, it's mainly New Orleans and likely surrounding areas are affiliated with people who travel into the area.
More concerning is there's still no facts as to whether this gets culled a bit in high humidity/heat similar to other coronaviruses that are seasonal. Been pretty hot getting close to record heats so if there ever was a time for us to sweat our nuts off it can start now.

That mortality rate isn’t even close to being accurate.
