Because this isn’t Mandeville, this is Madisonville, two totally different places. Yes you are supposed to have a permit to use that launch. You buy them at River Marr next to Mortons or at least you used to. Not sure what they cost now but they used to 12 dollars and the ticket for not having one is the same price or at least it used to be. Cop is full of shite, town of Madisonville does not own the launch or the property the state does but they do maintain it and patrol it. Madisonville cops have always been dicks. They have zero crime there so they have to create shite, it has always been like that.

Yep, I spent half my life in that town. That is the launch where the old coast guard station used to be. Yes there was a time when the coast guard kept boats there. Long before my time.

The dude with the RC boat is a douchebag. The cop was fine until he started smarting off to him. The guy asked if he could do it "over there" and the cop told him that would be fine.
Then RC guy makes a smartass comment and the cop tried to flex on him. But the cop is just a small town boomer so of course YouTube guy is going to make him look stupid.

I agree that both parties did some wrong things, but the Everest sized difference is one of them is operating under the color of law and is, and should be, held to a higher standard, and he utterly failed that standard because his fragile ego got in the way.

The whole thing is just absurd. The "Permit" is nothing more than you go to a little place over there and buy a sticker for $20 or whatever.
The craziest part is when the cop threatens to imprison the guy for posting the video on the internet. The fact that police departments allow these cops to continue to operate like that really makes it a lot easier to conquer them in a culture war.

It's worse than that. There's an actual law against jay walking. There's no law or ordinance saying you need a boat permit for a rc toy boat, nor is it a safety issue.
Also, it's not illegal to film the police.
