Where the hell have you been? Have you completely forgotten all the covid response and restrictions from 2020 and 2021?

If nobody is going to arrest anyone, what’s the point of issuing a ban? As I’ve said from the beginning of this, there should have been significant communication about the dangers and even an open fire ban, but issuing a grilling ban does absolutely nothing to mitigate the risk of wild fire ignitions.

This has already been explained. It's so that if your dumbass starts a fire you will get in trouble instead of saying "I was just grilling"

Idiots who aren't careful and start fires will face consequences.

The point of the ban is to reduce the number of forest fires that are ravaging the state of Louisiana.

How many of those were started by some dude living in the city grilling burgers by the pool?

considering what is starting the vast majority of fires why hasn't he banned cigs??

Littering is already illegal
a ride down any roadway in LA will easily show this is not enforced.

999 times out of 1000, these fires are started either by geniuses flicking cigarettes from their cars, burning trash or leaves in their back yard, or by arsonists. To punish a guy trying to have a back yard cookout is just an example of how abusive the government can be during any period of crisis. Just another case of the good guys having to suffer for the stupid.

Stupid people will cause accidental fires mandate or no mandate. You cannot legislate common sense. The only people who would follow the burn ban aren't the ones you need to worry about.

Plenty of sheep on here begging for being governed harder.

Been a firefighter over 25 years. As far as I know and it can vary by area, burn bans are just open burning. Unless something came out, it is not illegal to light up a barbecue pit. Pretty sure there’s no way to even enforce that. Only issue might would be if it’s some kind of homemade, half arse done, grill. Fwiw I grilled last night.

Burning leaves in your backyard right now with a burn ban is a totally different ballgame

How does one even start a grass/brush/forest fire by BBQing in a closed in pit anyway? I must not be BBQing with the same ferocity others are

lighting a charcoal chimney.

Small embers blowing out in a strong breeze when opening lid. I've seen it happen.

Please don't underestimate the stupidity of some people when the wind is strong and they're dealing with hot coals and fire.

“Due to the extremely dry conditions, a statewide burn ban was put into effect at the beginning of the month.

Where private burning, use of grill pits and small campfires were allowed under the previous ban, this type of burning is now prohibited.”

Context.. I'm over here basically in Sherwood in the heart of BR if I grill some burgers next Sunday for the game in my backyard Im not going to burn any woods down. I dont particularly anticipate BRPD rolling by here looking for it either.
