I can't really recall any others although I'm sure it's happened before. South LA is one of the wettest climates in the country usually.
Burn bans are nothing new in Louisiana. Usually just that no one cares and they aren’t communicated.
In East Texas which is pretty much the same climate and forest type as Louisiana they have Burn Ban road signs they can flip down when in effect and close when not which shows the frequency of them if they have those permanent signs on the highway.

I just ignited thinking about standing on a concrete slab that big grilling.
Which begs to question. What if we threw the meat directly on the concrete and cooked it?

Do you think people intentionally start fires? Of course not. They're just trying to remove the possibility of you accidentally starting a fire.

There should be separate sets of rules for idiots and non-idiots.

I have a ceramic, don't use a chimney starter, and concrete all around. No fires starting here.

Explain to me how it is selfish that I want to grill some meat?
I’m still trying to figure out how a grill on my back porch is in any way creating a wild fire.

There's a metal roof above it and the sprinklers are on.

Come on lol. You’re just being dumb now.

Again nobody is starting these fires by grilling in their backyard.

I live in a neighborhood in the middle of the city. I am not starting any wildfires, you jackass.

6 pages and no one has called the OP out for being wrong. The article says this:
A “Grill Pit” is a hole in the ground (or ground level) fire source with grill grates above it. Basically like a campfire with a grill.
Something like this:
Your BBQ grill is not banned, but you can still get cited if you start a wildfire from your BBQ Grill sparks.

Where private burning, use of grill pits and small campfires were allowed under the previous ban, this type of burning is now prohibited.

We got our burning done just before the put the ban in place. They should have done it two weeks earlier than they did. Burned approx 200 acres and I have never seen a fire burn that fast/ hot. There was zero controlling it.

There needs to be a hotline that we can call to report the IP addresses of the renegade grillers posting in this thread. You’re hunger for a steak doesn’t override my right to live.

I’m not trying to be obtuse. Why would government ban grilling? Do people really take their grills from their back porches and dump coals immediately after using them?
Eta
Just saw the poster say “grill pits” meaning campfires with grill grates above them. Got it.
