Pretty cool post. I remember when Cameron Communications got sold in Lake Charles a bunch of people got some nice bonuses too.

A Louisiana factory chief proved to be a real-life Santa Claus — giving each of his 540 full-time employees six-figure bonus checks totaling $240 million.
The generous gesture came after the benevolent boss sold the company for $1.7 billion.
Graham Walker, the now-former CEO of Fibrebond, told The Wall Street Journal that he would not agree to sell his company if prospective buyer Eaton did not earmark 15% of the proceeds for its employees — even though none of them owned stock.
The deal, which was completed earlier this year when Eaton acquired Fibrebond, triggered payouts to 540 full-time workers, averaging about $443,000 per worker spread over five years.

Can you imagine the insane good morale at work that day?

Some owners understand who were responsible for their success.
Yes, they were a big part of it, but they wouldn't have been able to build their company without the people working for them.
For as much shite as he gets, Wayne Stabiler was this kind of owner. When he retired, he gave his restaurants to those who managed them for him and made them successful (making him successful). He didn't sell to them, he turned them over as a reward for everything they did for him.
He's still the best owner I've ever worked for.

Imagine how bad you'd feel if you quit your job a week before huge bonuses went out.

I can verify this. The owner of Stabs on Lovett Road in Central told me this story and I was shocked. There is still a lot of good people in this world that we usually don't hear about. Great story for sure.

Agreed. Unfortunately, drama and bullshite “sell” much more than good feeling news/stories. Ironically it’s the feel good stories we all crave deep down, but somehow keep gravitating to the bullshite.
I’m sure there’s a lesson to be learned in there somewhere

Wall Street Journal has a more detailed article. It’s available on Apple News if you subscribe to that app. Great read.

Is my math correct? $440,000 per employee?
