tipping the scale of the balance of nature

Those hogs are an invasive species created from domestic hog populations not being controlled. Tipping the scale back in the right direction would have meant killing all of the hogs...preferably with a high powered rifle.

You obviously don't hunt. You can most definitely bait deer in a lot of states. Louisiana and Texas being two of them.

We kill as many hogs as we can in my area and it doesn't seem to make a dent in the population.

A few states have been trying to figure how to poison hogs without killing other animals. It is that bad.

The only thing that seems to help is helicopter hunts and big corral type traps.

I am betting that this is not the way that the dude throwing the marshmellows expected this to pan out at all...a gore show like that will run off tourists quickly...

Way too many boys being raised with no man in the house.

I guess these guys will spend an hour talking about how watching the video made them feel

I do agree with this. Not a good way to impress the general public/tourists. Probably traumatized some of the people on that trip.

It doesn't traumatize me but I grew up around hunting (ducks, geese, deer, hogs, gators, etc). Some people are not used to that stuff. I wouldn't have lured them close to the gator though (and I'm not sure the guide wanted that to happen). Im also sure that that is not the first hog that gator has eaten. Hogs like to swim and I'm sure he's caught a few in the past.

It wasn't that at all. It was the people who baited that pig by throwing food in the water.

I understand natural order of things and the pig was going to get attacked anyway. But the gator would have worked harder to attack the pig had the pig not gone for the food but pigs eat everything.

Those people just wanted a show and then acted surprised as if they thought that wasn't going to happen.

Brian Williams interviewed the gator. He said it was not a set up.

Ain't nature beautiful?

Hogs are a dangerous invasive non-native species.

Kill them any and every way you can. Should be a bounty on them.

If that would have been a black hog, would there have been riots and looting?

Pigs may be on the menu for gators in the wild, when they naturally make themselves available (i.e. loiter along shorelines, swim in gator ponds, etc.). What isn't fair or sporting, but downright cruel, is to bait a pig into gator water so that he will not see the danger swimming right before his eyes until it chomps. That is not entertainment; that is sadistic. People who think it isn't wrong to do this need to check their decent human being credentials for some kind of malfunction. It ain't right.

It's natural selection. Those animals haven't been in the wild long enough and don't have enough predators to be scared of this kind of thing because they were artificially inserted into the environment. They destroy habitat, food sources for other animals including humans, and their population runs wild.

If you truly understood how they effect other species, I think you'd have a different take on this.

So you don't use decoys or duck calls when you hunt?

How is this any different than hunters using corn feeders to lure deer?

To all the people saying luring the pig is horrible... Have any of yall seen the videos of the night hunts people kill pigs on? Most of them include automatic rifles and night vision. The pigs need to be eradicated.

I'd rather be shot out of the darkness than dragged under muddy water to be eaten by an alligator, wouldn't you?
If you care even a little about the suffering of animals, you would not do what they did to that pig.
