Enjoyed this. Wild pigs are overpopulated, those driven by emotion can't see this was a net good.

That's the point that people are missing. Those wild hogs are nuisance animals. One less hog.

the youtube crowd is sooooooooo emotional over it.

one woulda thunk someones pet was lured in from the overwhelming responses, and not a wild hog

No it's not. Those hogs are not domesticated pets. They are an invasive species that tear shite up and don't belong here. They need to be eradicated by all means necessary.

This is where I stand. If it were any other animal I would be a little outraged, but it's best for the hog and all of them to be eaten.

With that said, I couldn't lure any animal to that death with a clear conscience

Aren't alligators overpopulated too?

Yes, they technically both are. I'm not saying the alligator population isn't an issue, but it's not like the tourist tied down a bald eagle for the gator to snack on.

Again I couldn't lure any animal into that fate

REALLY?

you're comparing killing PETS to overpopulated wild animals?

The word "amusement" in that post is a keyword.

No they aren't. Alligator is highly regulated with a tag hunting system. They were endangered back in the 70's.

Wild Hogs were introduced from Europe (by dumb people wanting to hunt them) here a while back and now they are taking over. They cause more damage to coastal areas and also crop lands than any other animal. They can have 6+ babies each litter and up to 3-4 litters a year.

Isn't the vast majority of meat sold at the supermarket there because the animal was "lured" to its death?

People are allowed to hunt gators precisely because they are overpopulated.

Alligator populations are considered stable an not overpopulated. See LDWF link talking about populations.

Let nature be nature
That's fact. Gators may catch and eat pigs in nature. What we saw wasn't nature taking its course. It was brainless human beings without a conscience tipping the scale of the balance of nature in favor of being entertained. First off, this boat was probably familiar to the pigs and so they weren't cautious of it or the people, and maybe expected to be fed by the passengers. That's against what is natural because if you ran into pigs out in the wild, the likelihood is they would either run or attack. But these weren't paying any mind to all the people; just looking for treats tossed to them.

Baiting animals to their death is absolutely wrong. You can't bait deer or ducks (legally) to hunt them. Why would it be ok to bait a pig?
