I am sorry for your loss. I lost both of my parents at a relatively young age. I can tell you it does get easier with time.

Hang in there

Sorry to hear that, man I lost mine a few years ago. It's good that everyone got to spend time with him. That part is a blessing.

Sorry for your loss. I lost my dad 6 years ago and it sucked. I still regret not spending more time with him.

Not everyone has the same experience with their fathers. And some never got the experience to see their fathers grow old. I empathize with the OP, but you are not being very open minded if you cannot see that others’ experiences are not the same.

So you downvote a person who has just lost a father that he loved? How about just keeping quiet and letting him express his feelings and letting other folks express their sympathies. Geez...your logic...well, it's not logic. This isn't about someone's poor experience with his or her father.

Sincere condolences to you and your family. I lost mine a little over a year ago. Still seems like yesterday. That's good and bad in many ways. Pain is still pretty raw, but the memories are still very real and recent. I'll take it. I hope your memories and the love between you will comfort you.

I feel for you. Take some comfort in the good times, the life lessons and the memories. You'll think about him every day, may you hopefully be able to do so one day without tears, but instead with a smile and recollection of days gone by.

quote:

We were lucky enough to spend a lot of time with him over the past few weeks. Hug your dads just a little tighter folks. Spend just a little more time with them. Remember them fondly and make sure you tell them that you love them as often as possible.

This is spot on. I treat all time as borrowed time these days, knowing that every family gathering will one day just be a memory of better times.

It's a cliche but nothing is promised. My dad just dropped dead in his driveway at 53 walking to his truck. Our last conversation was about a youtube video.

Lost my Dad 3 years ago...still miss him every day. Your dad and mine had much in common so I understand what type of person you lost. Keep his memory alive through your kids , talk to him whenever you want. He's listening

So sorry for your loss. I lost mine 4 and half years ago. Still tough but not as bad. Some days are tougher. I dreamed about him last month. To hear his voice and see his mannerisms again for the first time in 4 and a half years...I didn't want the dream to end.
