Truly sorry. Unconditional love is not shown anywhere greater than in our dogs. They are the only beings that just want to give and receive our attention and affection no matter what. I’ve got an 11 year old cocker spaniel that has been through some tough family trauma with me and the wife and I tear up thinking our run is close to over. God bless you.

I’m on my first dog as an adult and it will straight cripple me when she’s gone. We waited for 25 married years to get a dog and I can’t put to words how much we all love her.

The worst part of owning a dog is knowing you will most likely outlive it.

We don’t deserve the love and care that they give us

Sorry for your loss.

I got my first dog ever in my 40's. He's now 13 and I found out that he has cancer this weekend. As if I didn't before but I'm going to spoil him rotten with the time he has left. I'm going to be devastated when that time comes because I've never had to do this before. I'll never get another dog because I can't do this again. I'll never be able to top the best Border Collie in the world.

Our other dog Bella has already had a few growths/tumors treated and removed. It’s apparently very common for her breed. Spent so much time worrying about her health that I just wasn’t expecting to lose Beau before her.

We’ve always had two dogs at a time, and the last two were just as inseparable. One got cancer and it was rough watching her health deteriorate till eventually we had to put her to sleep. Afterwards, our other dog just seemed lost without her buddy. Within the same year she fell hard down the stairs and had to be put down. I don’t think she had it in her to keep going on without her buddy.

Told myself the same thing you said about never getting another dog after that. A few years went by before we decided it was time to get Bella. She reminded us that despite what happens down the road, and how much it will eventually hurt, her presence in our lives filled us with even more love and happiness. So, I’d just say to you don’t shut that door because only they can fill that void left in your heart.

You’re never really prepared when it’s their time. But, opening your home and heart up to a new dog does help ease the pain. They bring so much joy to our lives. You appreciate them more after losing each one. Dogs truly are a man’s best friend. It’s tough when you have to say goodbye, but the companionship and love from them is all worth it in the end.

RIP to a good boy.

Chicken, we need to see who downvotes on posts like this. They need to be seen, so we know who to completely avoid.
