Generally the line from NOPD is "This does not appear to pose a threat to the public at large" or something like that. Presumably the parties know each other and prey on each other on I-10 as it is the main thoroughfare through the East and into CBD/Quarter.

I call 100% bullshite. NOPD is repeating what they are told to say. That journalist in Hammond that broke down every shooting last year proved that the victims are not related and are largely not the age or demographic to be "gang-related."
So the theory that these are all "gang-related" would have to assume that the gangs manage to target the wrong people most of the time.

That same journalist linked a shooting on the spillway, two parishes over. That shooting was the innocent groom that was shot. Didn't mention the victim was shot by the driver/best man.
Also wrote about another individual that was shot on the interstate, but there is no record of him being shot. No reports of anyone being shot on the day he claims.
