Thinking that any dog that isn't adopted as a puppy needs to be killed makes you a shitty person.

Going to be hard to find one to adopt. My grandparents just got one from Crockett Farms in South Carolina. Paid about $1,500 and drove all the way to South Carolina to get her.

You want to "adopt" a designer breed? ?

That's not really the dogs that get adopted.....you know, cuz most people will pay 1,000 bucks for them, so there aren't a lot just roaming the streets. Now, you want a mutt conceived in a dumpster and born next to a sewage plant.....those are pretty easy to adopt.

uh...goldendoodles are mutts. Which kennel association are they recognized by?

People pay $1500+ for a designer mongrel that can't help hunt you dinner or learn to bring you a beer.

This isn’t really an adoptable dog, but who knows. You may want to look into a service that finds homes for dogs after their owners have passed away. In my neighborhood alone there are a lot of old folks with doodles.

Get an Airedale and tell your kids to try to keep up with it. My brother has one. Beautiful dog but active doesn't even begin to describe it.

Look for a breed specific rescue group.

Kinda hard when what he mentions isn't a breed.

Designer mutts don't end up in shelters for very long, people look for those to adopt and resell.

labradoodle
One of my kids and spouse have a black male. (triggered?)

Wonderful animal.

Got it from a breeder in Lower Alabama who told them if they ever couldn’t look after the dog, no matter what the issue, bring it back to them and they will take it, no questions asked.

Maybe because the individuals are valuable, maybe the breeders really like their dogs.

I have a Labradoodle. He wasn't my choice, the kid and wife decided that. But, after him getting through the puppy stage he's actually an awesome dog. Smart and very obedient. The lab in him comes out when it comes to squirrels, rabbits, birds, etc. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either a Golden or Labra.

LOL if you can't train a doodle to retrieve. They are outstanding water dogs.

We have an Australian labradoodle. Paid 2500 for him and had to drive to Atlanta to get him. Good luck finding a free one.

My advice would be to contact some breeders. A lot of them look to retire the breeding dogs to a good home once they have had a few litters.

As far as the breed itself goes, they are great. Loads of energy, but incredibly smart. Ours fetches, swims, and retrieves the paper from the driveway. He was easier to train than our previous labs and golden retrievers.
