Looking to adopt a labradoodle or Goldendoodle

What is the best way to go about getting one? Would prefer one older than a year old. All I can find are puppies for sale. We would be keeping it as a pet, not breeding it or anything.
ETA: already joined petfinder.com and told vet to please keep us in mind if they hear of any. Also, called 2 local animal shelters but they said they rarely get that breed come in (shocker).

You can maybe contact the local shelters and tell them that you have an interest in adopting a labradoodle/goldendoodle and maybe they can put your name name if they get one or something.
Ask your local vet or call around to vets in the area and ask if they know of anyone who has one up for adoption.
Get the word out there. I would imagine, the only other way to get one, would be going through a breeder and in that case, they would only have puppies available.

Look for a breed specific rescue group.

They’re about $1,500 - 1,800 depending on the seller, I would be surprised if you found one in a pound to adopt

Pretty sure dogs like that never go up for adoption.

Why is it a goldendoodle and not a goldenoodle or goldenroodle?
Where does that second d come from?

The other side of your mom.
You're not going to find a doodle up for adoption, they sell for too much. Paid 1k for ours.

If you don't find labradoodle or golden doodle, search for poodle, lab or golden retriever.

Every dog owner deserves the puppy to grave experience. It's just more often the fuller, more satisfying experience.
waste the muts.

frick that. I have had puppies before, and I will never get another puppy. Shelter dogs are the best cause they know what the alternative is, so they are better behaved.
I volunteer at an animal shelter taking care of sick dogs.Over the last 4 years, we have watched 15 dogs, from a week to almost 3 months, while they healed. Of those 15 dogs, only one wasn't a good dog. And that dog was a good dog but it couldn't control its bladder, so that made it pretty unpleasant to be around.
To get a doodle, you might have to go the rescue route.

After a quick google search, this seems to be the case.

I’d just get a Golden. I have been around a few goldendoodles that are assholes.
I am also a big golden fan so I guess I have my bias

I have a goldendoodle and have met plenty of others and have never met one that’s even remotely an a-hole. But now i’m Curious how they look trying to be mean. They are some goofy bastards.
