I think the rub is the CEO has a history of disliking the company she works for forcing woke and DEI into the corporate culture.

Haven't been there in years so if they want to ruin their business model then by all means blow it all up.

Yeah, it seems pretty dumb to me because the last time I ate there a couple years back, the food was cheeks compared to what it used to be. The rustic, downhome gimmick was really the only draw they had at this point, IMO. Now they look like a gastropub that serves apple butter.

am I the only one unbothered by the interior changes? A color palette of brown and more brown plus all the dusty old shite on the walls in their restaurants that haven't changed a thing since 1981. Oh my God, the horror. They've updated their interiors, painted them white, took down the closed space lattice work and decluttered the walls of some of the junk you didn't care about in the first place.

You’re 100% correct. So much more brighter with the light colors and less clutter looks so much better. I’ve got a nice one in my county and it has an experienced manager that came over from O’Charley’s. Good food, good staff.

I used to love Cracker Barrel on a road trip. I stopped there in Georgia last year and that shite was absolutely disgusting. It was ruined long before they changed the wall paneling and trashy decor.

Hash brown casserole used to be nectar for the gods, now it tastes like an asscrack. frick that place

Last time I ate at a Cracker Barrel (breakfast) was utterly unremarkable. Not bad, but by no means good.
Waffle House FTW.

This is what happens when you hire people that have never used your business to run your business. Look at Waffle House - 60 years and its still the same. Same low quality diner/drunk food, same trailer park waitresses, same atmosphere - they embrace it instead of modernizing it which makes it awesome.

I stopped eating there over a year ago when they took the 14 hour cooked roast beef off the menu.

I ate at a Cracker Barrel in central Indiana last week. The peg game was exactly the same as it has always been. My wife played it for the first time, became obsessed, and we bought one for our son (like my parents did for me decades ago).

The menu has changed to more pre-prepped crap (e.g., hash brown casserole crusted shepherd's pie), but the chicken fried chicken is still good.

Hey, the second one is missing both the barrel and the cracker.

I can get poorly made over-medium eggs anywhere. What they did to their hash brown casserole is sinful. Place should burn for it.

Yea, same. It's a shame too because CB used to be a spot. Now like a lot of other establishments their hiring practices have ruined the brand.

They did make an announcement well over a year ago that massive changes were coming to both the menu and the restaurant itself

I know this is blasphemy around here, but I also occasionally peruse Reddit.

The r/CrackerBarrel subreddit comes up on my feed sometimes, and it is nothing but experienced CB servers and cooks complaining about the new menu and how it's affecting their culture and compensation (and apologizing to the occasional customer who posts about their experience).

For better or worse, Cracker Barrel was a staple of my youth. It was a destination stop to break up long road trips. It was a competition to be the first to call out how many miles till Cracker Barrel when we passed a billboard. We bought and traded books on tape there.
