OWLFAN86, you’re right to be skeptical and I did exaggerate by about a dozen or so miles. It was actually from Fort Lewis WA to south Florida after I got out of the U.S. Army after finishing up there after Vietnam. Was 23 and thought I was bulletproof. My car…not so much.

dream trip is the Alaska Highway from north of Seattle up thru Canada to Fairbanks AK.. 1400 miles of rugged beautiful scenery .
My brother drove to Washington state and caught a ferry to Ankoridge when he moved from New Orleans to Anchorage.

About 10 years ago, my parents did one of the Alaskan river cruises that featured some great scenery.

As a kid, I was a passenger in my parents 69 Buick Wildcat, pulling a camper, from Vidalia, LA to Denver. We camped every night except for four or five we spent visiting relatives in Arkansas, Missouri and Denver.

I drove from Farmerville, LA to Denver by myself to work construction one summer. Stayed overnight in Amarillo on a night a tornado came thru. The speedometer on my car wasn't working for the whole drive.

San Fransisco to Dallas could have been the longest.
The guy I bought coke from in the 80s wanted me to fly to San Fransisco and drive back with a kilo of product. I declined his offer to clear my $600 debt and pay me $1000. I told him I had watched too many episodes of Miami Vice. The truth is I was afraid police would find me dead in some cheap Texas motel with .99 kilograms of coke, an ash tray, and half a pack of Marlborough Lights on the bed or next to the tub next to me.

Longest solo trip, Yonkers NY to Denver in one leg.

Longest with spouse, Baton Rouge to Denver in one leg each way. Not too bad.

Going back to see family in Denver for Christmas with infant twins. We have to fly, not looking forward to the flight from MSY to DEN and back.

Friend of mine lived all his life in Colorado. He says the yuppies from Commiefornia have ruined the place. They move but don’t change their voting habits.
