I wonder what the odds are that there are other pedos working in the school system or the sheriff department. I'd like to think the Perkins were the only ones, but I doubt that's true.

Pretty hard to argue that it was obtained illegally bud.
It was caught on scans of Apple's backup service. A third party organization that is allowed access to, I would imagine perform image scans of the backups of all apple clients.
Sadly, his "content" wasn't his data and he didn't own it.
Thankfully when we finally get better litigation on data transfer, this jackass lawyer talk concerning ownership of data concerning criminal defense will be a thing of the past.

They got his drives, a solid forensic analyst should be able to grab the syslog of any ssl transfer he performed.
His knowledge of virtual machines should be questioned in interrogation immediately. Press him hard on it.
They are just moving way too slow, we need new litigation to move data collection on these situations faster.

Did anyone else hear him say in the press conference "I am sheriff and I will continue to be sheriff."
It will take a felony conviction to get him out.

The moral of the story is that you can talk a good game and act as oblivious as you want, but when the outcome truly isn't in your hands, you can be dismissed at any moment.

i'm sorry...dismissed by who?
the only way to removed ard from office is by recall election

Good luck, because that scenario is virtually impossible. One of his subordinates will be selected to finish out his term until the next election.
Then someone from outside of Livingston Parish would have to move into the parish, run for sheriff, and win an election. I don’t see that happening.

He is an elected official. Who's hands is it in?

I’m thinking the number may be low. Otherwise, there would probably have been a rash of suspicious fires destroying all evidence at a number of houses.
Well, more than normal for Livingston anyway.
There may be other people involved but this isn’t an X-Files episode where the entire PTA are occultists or any shite like that.

People in this parish are too scared to sign a recall petition. It is public record. Plus I am pretty sure he has buddies in the registrar of voters office and they can throw out any signature they feel is not signed correctly.

Fun thing about the digital age. The more VPNs in use the less it matters of physical device storage.
It goes on a VPN or a vendor-based cloud network's storage, then guess what you don't own it. it's out there. And the data movement information of where it originated and where it went to doesn't go away.
Again, lawyers aren't really with the digital age yet. So that criminal mafioso crap is done son.

Not really. Read the first page and any random 3 in the middle and you'll be caught up.

This title didn't give you any inkling of why it may be such an active thread

Don’t feel like reading through to see if this was posted. Just got told that in the process of digging in ole boys computer, they found some videos of wife with other teachers from the school. Not with the kids but just some adults.
And this will give it another 106 pages.
