that's a bad frick up. Somebody would have died at my house. I have an alarm, motion sensors and two dogs. If my door is kicked in at night rounds will be fired.

And some geniuses on the OT would find a way to blame you because "well he was shooting at police!"

Or "Should have just complied."

uh...yeah

that's the point

I get that, and I explained why it won't happen. Their lawyers won't let them.

When I was in college I was stopped by po-po because the car I was driving “resembled” that of a suspect they were looking for. They handcuffed me and I had to sit on the curb while they basically gutted my vehicle. They removed the back seat, got in the trunk and removed the spare tire AND the trunk liner, emptied the glove box and the center console. shite scattered all over the side of the road. After they were “finished” an officer uncuffed me and said “they didn’t find anything”. I said, “ well I could have told y’all that BEFORE you trashed my car”. Officer replied, “shut your mouth or I’ll ticket you for “littering”. No apology forthcoming.

I filed a complaint with the sheriff’s office…………nothing but crickets.

Unfortunately, ”body cams” were not a thing at that time:

Our deputies acted reasonably in this incident.” said Ard.

They had time to work out their official response. Adding that statement near the end of their official response is rather sad as nobody thought about how bad that sounds. Omission would have been better.

I don't understand why they so often dig in and just say "Oh well" rather than admitting their mistake and paying for the property damage they cause. Instead, they try to blame the victim and force them to sue the department and city to make things right.

I don’t understand why they so often make these kinds of mistakes.

Seems to me they need better intelligence before kicking in some innocent people’s door. And this shite happens daily across the country.

And they wonder why they aren’t particularly liked.

A sincere apology and some sort of token amount of restitution would have prevented this for most normal people. Granted, if it happened to some people they would sue for millions no matter what.

It literally only takes a HS Diploma, and its possible that City of Walker might accept an GED

Sadly this is true for about 75% of the police and sheriff departments in this state. Shitty pay is most of the issue.
Hell, Walker and LPSO are better than many small town and parish police in this shithole of a state.

Here come the bootlickers bitching about the pussification of America — these people want to get paid for a middle of the night wake up.

“How traumatic can it be”

Do you think this is some minor deal? A smash and grab arrest in the middle of the night on the wrong person?

These people were terrorized here. There will be psychological trauma and trust issues that they are dealing with for years. They deserve a large sum of money.

Unlawful detainment is not a good look.

Neither is entering someone's house, with guns drawn, without a warrant.

I hope the Livingston parish Sherrif's office pays for their home remodeling project.

They don't care. It's not their money.

Why can't police just be nice about it when they make mistakes?

Because of lawsuits. Admitting a mistake on camera is an easy way to lose a lawsuit.
