1. Medicine
2. Physics
3. Chemistry/ Biochem
4. Engineering ( though most engineers think they are geniuses and know it all)
5. Education ( impacts the lives of the future generation for low pay. Takes a special person to be a good teacher)

Hon mention- PTEC. They make the products that make our lives better

No degree is all that impressive to me since they're all relative. There are plenty of people for whom engineering was easy but that basic core English class made them go crazy.

I picked a major that suited my strengths and my interests (creative writing) and while it was easy for me to get A's, few people in my classes sniffed that grade, and engineering and pre med friends of mine shivered at the prospect of writing 120 page novel or screenplay.

I respect it all, but mostly I respect the school. If you went to Yale, chances are you're pretty smart.

ETA: as far as what people do with their degrees to make an impact on the world:
1. PhD in the sciences
2. MD
3. NP
4. JD
5. Biochemical Engineering

Are you familiar with what word the "D" in JD represents?

A common misconception is that "JD" stands for "Juris Doctorate." It actually stands for "Juris Doctor."

The best and most respected undergrad degree is obviously computer science based on quality of life, salary, job security, future job growth, and it is the degree I have. Not to mention all the richest people in the world were CS majors

You forgot the part where they all dropped out and didn't get their degree, unlike your dumbass

I agree with the obvious ones: engineering, medicine, law but haven't seen a whole bunch of architecture mentions. Had a roommate that majored in this and he spent more time at school than I did in engineering.

Laugh...those equations are derived from the Boltzmann equation gone over in a MUCH more rigorous form in Statistical Mechanics (thermo). Bitch and moan about fluids or thermo in ME but you have no idea. Condensed matter, Mechanics, E&M, Quantum...there isn't a 4000 level physics course that you want to compare with the hardest Engineering courses at LSU, especially if the difficulty of math involved is your determining factor. I give you that DSP (digital signal processing) is a mindfrick. Do not want that one.

The degree I respect most is the one the stripper in my lap claims she's studying for.

We definitely know different people. Went to high school with quite a few people who are teachers now. I can't think of but one or two that I would want to teach my kid. Most of them are the kind of people that I would have had to tutor.

I agree for the most part, but I think you should emphasize the difference a REAL engineering degree and not a watered down BS degree that's equivalent to liberal arts and general studies.

For example, mechanical, civil, chemical, biological, and industrial engineering are legitimate engineering degrees.
Electrical and computer engineering are glorified electricians and IT specialists.

Lol you said civil engineering is a real engineering degree. I stopped reading.

EE with a soon to be MBA, I work telecom and I can assure you some of the next gen stuff we're working on you couldn't begin to wrap your head around. Likewise with ME work. So child please, don't get mad when us glorified IT guys work from home 3 days out the week and made 10-15k more than you starting out green from college.
