Solid list. For me,
1. Medicine
2. Computer Science
3. Engineering
4. Accounting
5. Finance/Economics
Honorable mention: Law
Also, people trash liberal arts and rightly so, but a degree that isn't mocked enough is political science. Talk about a useless degree.

Looks about right. Physics would be top 3 in any list I would make.

1. Medicine (MD)
2. Physical Therapy ( Don't have a 3.7, no chance to get accepted in Louisiana)
3. Teachers (too little pay to deal with animals in public schools)
4. Nursing
5. Physics
Easy to appreciate other health care professions when you are in one

1. Engineering (extremely difficult, courses include material that applies everything from calculus, physics, differential equations, chemistry, biology, geology, economics)
Would agree, except Civil knocks it down quite a bit.

I agree wth this, but the question asked degrees. Getting the degree to be a teacher is no more difficult than your basic liberal arts degree. I know -- I have my degree in English and only switched it from a secondary education concentration during my last year because I didn't want to teach. Nothing is different besides not spending a year extra in college for student teaching.
I think my own degree was pretty easy (college was a small part of my life, and I still did fine).. but my actual job is much different than my degree. There are people with my degree working as receptionists for $9/hour.. and there are people running their own companies. But the degree itself was easy enough. It is all what you do with it that counts when it comes to liberal arts. I have zero desire to sit around at a front desk answering phones for the rest of my life.

Demand isnt the samething as respect
Posted on 3/22/16 at 10:59 pm to LouisianaLady
I don't think there's any degree I 'respect' more than others. Seems like most are equating difficulty with respect in here.

Yes and no.
Most yes. But one of the guys I hired last year was a political science major, with a really odd focus. He's legitimately been killing it since his second week.
Honestly the only thing I regret about leaving where I am is I'm worried they aren't going to push him enough.
The guy can summarize a 30 page report after a three minute perusal. Idk what his focus actually was, but I wasn't where he is analytically at his age.

I agree with you 100%. You know who I respect? People who work hard and give a shite about something.
One of my best friends graduated with a lib arts degree, and her daddy didn't make her get a job in high school or college. She literally has an empty resume. She has been bitching for months about not being able to get a job when she "has a degree". I respect someone who has worked hard to gain experience to fill that resume up.
shite, I mopped and scrubbed toilets at Northgate freaking Tavern when I was 18 just to make connections and make money. I now have a "real" career that I adore. And I wouldn't take back the waiting tables or scrubbing floors at the risk of not having a job as an adult.

I have a chemistry degree and it wasn't that hard. It was my fall back degree. I'm sure a masters or phd in it is hard, but not a BS.
