re: LHSAA not allowing high school football, basketball, or soccer games until Phase 4

How many commits does LSU already have for class of 21? Most of the class is filled. Between commits and offers out, it's just about the entire class.
Great...we both know that by Thanksgiving all those "commitments" may not still be being honored.
One thing I'm talking about here is the RB that got maybe 50 carries in 2019 and did enough to get looks from UL, SLU, and maybe even somebody like Mississippi St.....but in his senior year he gets 150 carries and leads the state in rushing and carries his team to a state title....if LSU has a RB spot I can't imagine they won't at least give that kid a look and at least an unofficial visit especially if he plays at a bigger high school.
That guy won't have that chance at his 150 carries...and we don't have any idea what that costs him down the road....but it costs him something.

As many as they want until you bow in submission to them.

I agree that they should let the kids play but how do yo not see the differences in exposure of the two sports?
In one sport your job is to stand as close as you can to the opponent and either take the ball or at least make it difficult for him to do what he wants with it.
The other sport you stand on the complete other side of the court and you never come into physical contact with the opponent.
The logic seems pretty solid.

If my kid was Division I caliber and getting offers I’d be looking to move out of state ASAP. Some state somewhere is playing this fall and I’d make damn sure they were playing
I get that, because I'm sure he would want to play. But if your kid had Division I talent and was getting offers, he would still be able to accept one of those offers. Plenty of talented HS seniors every year get hurt and miss their senior year, but still sign with the school who recruited them.

If an LHSAA season “hasn’t begun” can the kids play outside organizations? There may be some opportunities to basically set up “travel teams.” Just call your team “Bears” instead of Catholic High.
Too much expense for football but basketball, baseball, and soccer could do it.
Hell, there are high school "teams" playing indoor soccer right now. My kid is on Dutchtown, we played UHigh and another school from Ascension yesterday. How that is allowed but they can't actually practice I have no idea

Yeah I get that. What I'm trying to say is everyone will be in the same boat. College coaches are going to have to project even more than normal.
It's not that different from if that junior gets hurt in week 1 of the senior season and is out 12 weeks. But in that situation, his peers can move past him. here, the peers won't move past him, because all the peers won't be playing as well.
It's going to be a whole new world, that's for sure, and I'm sure some kids unfortunetly will get left out.

College coaches are recruiting off of HUDL and film these days. Once they get the footage then they make the in person visit.
Without footage there’s no recruitment
It’s all fricked up.
We just went through this with the baseball season that was cancelled since March. We got creative and started doing live indoor virtual pitching and batting sessions for college coaches to watch online.
I’d imagine football will do the same thing, sort of like a NFL combine but virtual online for high school kids and college coaches.

If one player is trying to spike and the defender is trying to block they'll easily be within a foot of each other. Not to mention travel, huddles, licker rooms, etc.

What will be missing is the media coverage of the games where a kid makes headlines or gets mentioned in an article. Coaches and scouts read this stuff
Also, the “player of the week” is gone. All state is gone.
These things matter big time

Yep, and Friday Night Football
I love staying up watching the highlights from the games from all over the state. I’m going to miss that.

They just going to push football back? It’s the first one in the season. Will be upset if it overlaps soccer...I’m sure they’ll just shorten the football season.

I have a feeling they will shorten the season and only play district games, if they even have a season.

Phase 4 may never happen
Not sure if you were serious, but personally I believe there is some truth to this, maybe not EVER but possibly for a long long time. So, I agree that these seniors are getting the shaft, similar to the baseball guys this past spring.
Let's say that this crap sticks around for a while and we do move into Phase 3, but stay there do to "abundance of caution" for maybe 2 years and then LHSAA decides frick it and changes to allow football to happen under phase 3 conditions. (I'm no lawyer or anything close to it) Do the kids who missed out have any kind of legal recourse?
