I drug my 3 year old LG to the street Saturday with a sign on it that said" I still work, free to a good home". This was after I installed my brand new Speedqueen I ordered from AJ Madison. $879 for the machine. No tax, free delivery. Took 12 days to come in. I did most of this based on the recommendations of what I read on here. It is a freaking beast. My wife would have to babysit the LG waiting on the UE code.. no more. I could not recommend the Speedqueen more.

While you are up, I have a dishwasher that won't drain automatically but will when you push the drain button.

Since its draining the line isn't clogged, and since the pump will work when you force it, that shows it works.

Is it the control board?

I have an LG washer had the same thing the electric pump motor is going bad.
The drum won't spin because water left in the tank even if you cant see it. Go online order a new motor fairly cheap and easy to change out.

If you're still on.... I can't get it into service mode. Immediately when I touch the wash temp and soil level buttons it dings twice, but when I press play it just starts a cycle. The display does not show T1.

Would this be indicative of a PCB failure?

If it can't enter service mode, then yes, that is a logic failure and the control needs to be replaced.

damn, I would have bought that from you. New springs and a hall sensor and that's a quick $350 if front load, $300 if top.

either the control board or the flow switch on the bottom of the machine is stuck. But generally with a stuck flow switch it won't fill either, and a bad lid switch it will never drain.

If it drains on forced drain but not in normal operation then yes, likely the control board.

But it's hard to know for sure, so I would suggest buying it from a place online that takes returns of electronic parts.

parts cost more here, but they take returns of installed electrical parts.
Most people including myself do not take returns on electrical parts

Hard question. All new washers suck. All of them are basically garbage. Cool features but not made to last more than five years.

So based on that I generally recommend the cheapest machine you can buy. Why spend $1200 if it won't last longer than a $400 unit?
Really direct drive whirlpools and Kenmores made from 1990 to 2009 are the best. Last and work great.
Nothing made like that now, other than Speed Queen.

I say stay away from GE washers and Samsung. I generally like LG (I have an LG set myself; to OT poor for Speed Queen, )
