My dick isn’t small enough to drive a big truck. I like my sedan. They just need to start being more innovative to attract buyers. Tesla is not having a problem selling sedans.
Well the Tesla is a no-brainer. A totally electric car, and it's what, $30k?
If you can plug it in every night, it's a perfect car.

It’s so very sad mates... but maybe I’ll pick up a 2020 in a few years for a great price. Favourite car ever and I love how it looks and drives. I usually pamper the frick out of Lexi but haven’t been driving at all. Some a-hole stole my F-Sport brake calipers at a garage a few months ago and that’s the only mishap I’ve had in 4 years. Interior is badass and comfy as hell.

Covid is not going to paint a rosier picture for 2020.
This was happening with or without a COVID. The demand for cars has waned. It’s a market for SUVs, trucks and crossovers. That Ford isn’t building cars other than the Mustang. There’s a sea change in the automotive industry. By the end of the decade, electric vehicles will overtake gas powered vehicles.

Half a lifetime ago I had the choice between a lightly used GS 300 and a lightly used LS 300.
I made the wrong choice. That GS was sexy. I thought I was being responsible with the LS.

I would pick the ES 350 over the GS series any day. I love the ES 350.
I had an ES 350 and it was a comfortable car for my commute and to take customers around. But this is just a goofy statement. I had no reason to get the GS, but if you offered them both at the same price, I'd pick the GS every time. Especially an F-sport model.

Shame...incredible car!
I would love to get a preloved one next time instead of a fleet company car.

There’s no comparisons between a proven Lexus & a Tesla. Tesla is far from perfect, ridden with quality issues & long term reliability is suspect.

It's just a souped up Camry anyway
One of the Lexus (I think is ES) is made at the Toyota plant in Georgetown, KY. It is the same frame as the high end Camery with Lexus specs. So, your take is correct.

The ES has been based on the Avalon and not the Camry for the past two generations. His take is not only not correct because of that, but also because this thread is about the GS.

Is it? Because I know one of the guys who is a line leader at the plant that has said the ES is a souped up Camery....the Avalon’s are also a souped up Camery with high end Toyota specs.

That person does not know what they're talking about
Let me rephrase as that was a bit much. They are not just rebadged. They are on similar platforms. But the Avalon is bigger.

That person is making the frames that is. the Lexus ES, Camery, and Avalon.
Frames has nothing to do with the specs of the individual car models.
ETA: the Avalon being bigger has to do with the trim.

I still don't understand all the love for Toyota vehicles, they have issues just like every other manufacturer
In the 1980s and 1990s, getting 120,000 trouble free miles out of a car was a novelty. Toyota was a reliable car when no one was making reliable cars.
It takes more than that to really sell cars now. Buyer's have higher expectations for everything. Carmakers have to make reliable products with a top shelf interior, high end finishes, and state of the art infotainment - and they have to do it for an affordable price. Even the Toyota Camry depends on fleet sales to keep the volume high.

Camry, Rav4, Avalon, Highlander, and Lexus ES350 are all on the same chassis.
They are even adding all wheel drive options (previously reserved for the Rav4 and Highlander) to the Avalon and Camry this year. It's fairly easy for Toyota to do it because the chassis was designed to accommodate that.\
Most modern manufacturers use architectures that can be scaled for different sizes, wheelbases, and body types. General Motors, VW, Toyota, Subaru, Volvo, and Honda are experts at this. Consumers demand a lot of features and quality for their dollar - and it's very hard to deliver this unless the car companies spread the engineering and design costs across a wide array of models.
There's also a recent trend of cooperative endeavors between manufacturers. Most people don't realize that Toyota and BMW share basic designs for their roadsters....or that Chevrolet and Ford co-developed multiple transmissions....or that Honda's EV future is reliant entirely on General Motor's battery technology.

Who’d ever think of a declining sedan market? Seems like the sedan has been part of the American marketplace for decades.
In the '60's Chevy sold 1 million Impalas a year.
2020 is the last model year for them. Discontinued for 2021.
If it's not a CUV or truck it's on life support.

. The ES used to be built on the same platform as the Camry, but it moved over to the Avalon platform with the introduction of the sixth-generation model for 2013.

Has this changed?

They've recently moved all of those models to the new TNGA-K chassis. Avalon and ES350 share a wheelbase, but they are also on the same platform as the Camry and Highlander, which also have different wheelbases and body styles.
The new Camry was the first to move to that chassis in 2016. The Rav4, Avalon, and Lexus ES moved to the new platform in 2018. The Highlander moved to it last year. The Lexus RX will move to it next year. Toyota will likely move additional models to that platform in the future.
General Motors actually thinks they can narrow their entire consumer vehicle portfolio (not counting commercial trucks) to 6 platforms.
Volvo only uses 1.
