The fuel mileage and tank size are also a complaint of mine I hadn't thought about earlier. And you are supposed to run 93 octane in them also, which is not ideal.

And, finger crossed, we haven't cracked it yet, but I told my wife when we got it that the windshield is like a jeep's being so vertical and more susceptible to cracking. Whatever hits it is less likely to deflect off of it without cracking or chipping the windshield.

My suggestion to anyone wanting to buy but can't find one: actually go to a dealership and speak to a rep.

I started looking online in Sept 2024. For 6 months, I reached out to every Lexus dealership near Houston, Austin and Dallas and kept getting the same 8-10 month waiting list. In the meantime, test drove the Defender, land cruiser and Mercedes GLE. Wasn't blown away by any of them, so in February said screw it, I'll go to the dealership to speak to a rep and put my name down for one if needed (maybe even just put my name down for a 2025 GX if the 2024 was still 10 months out).

Told the sales rep what I wanted (Luxury or Luxury Plus, Incognito or Nebula exterior, black interior). She looks in the system, "wow, we have a luxury trim, Nebula scheduled to arrive in 2 weeks that hasn't been claimed yet. It's yours if you want it..."

Edit: I obviously got lucky. But I wouldn't have had that happen if I just kept searching online and emailing back & forth with reps. Half the time I couldn't tell if it was an actual rep responding to my texts/emails or a bot sending out auto replies.

Surprised to hear the gas mileage is so low on these. My 2024 Tundra is getting 21mpg since I got it a couple weeks ago. It's the hybrid engine, but I was told the hybrids aren't really for gas mileage, but more for towing and torque. My guess is the GX550's will start coming down in price much like the Tundras did two years after they came out. I managed to pick up a new 2024 holdover Capstone for $69,000, which was over $15k off the Msrp price. Dealer up near Pittsburgh had two Capstones that sat on their lot for almost a year. They still have another available for $68k if anyone is in the market.

Don't think so. They wanted me to put down deposit and order one and wait. I test drove one there a few months ago. They had aftermarket rims and Nitto AT tires. It made the ride feel like shite (and I drive the newer Bronco). My wife left more than unimpressed. So much so that I couldn't talk her into trading her car for it.

That said, I still like the look of them.

If I had the money, I’d get an LX600.

I'm going to check out the 700h overtrail tomorrow to see if thats what i want to order. I drove a 700h luxury an it was nice but i need the offroad capabilities.

I can’t get past the hybrid BS. Does the cargo area of the LX get smaller like the LCs?

I'm ok with this version of it because it basically just adds a bunch of torque and has a redundant alternator and starter in case the hybrid PU fails.

Yeah, you loose about 6 inches of vertical space on the floor.

I would probably go with the 600 if they offered it in an OT version, but they're only doing the 700h in the OT, so i'm kind of stuck. Unless i wanted to get a luxury and change out the wheels and tires. But i do like having all the skid plates and lockers.

I will say from driving a 600 vs 700, the additional torque is very noticeable. If feels liek a properly powered SUV finally.

Wife has had the Overtrail version since February with no complaints from her thus far. We no longer needed 3rd row seating so the Overtrail (only has 2nd row) was perfect with a large cargo area. I have noticed the fuel mileage not hitting what the spec says. On our last hwy heavy trip the best we got on a full tank was 18.6 over 350 miles which is no better than my 5.0 F150 which can go over 550 miles between refueling so that was a little disappointing considering the premium fuel costs. Like the appearance, the front cabin is very roomy, and the seats are nice but as mentioned earlier the safety technology is a little over the top. Glance out a side window for a second and it will beep to say you are a distracted driver. That gets real annoying driving on the beach having the car alert the wife of my viewing habits.

Nope. Land Cruiser is a 4 cylinder hybrid that loses part of it's cargo area to a battery. The interior is also much cheaper unless you add the upgrades which bring it right in line with the GX550 pricing. You can pull a lot more (we tow a boat) with the GX than you can with the Land Cruiser.

Looks great. Wife couldn’t see over dash and it felt extremely claustrophobic coming from a Tahoe.

We ended up getting an Armada Pro 4x. For 69,500 plus TT&L it’s an absolute monster of a vehicle I think will be the sleeper SUV in 2025.

I just got a 600. Drove from NOLA to Baton Rouge today, no issue with power. The 700 supposedly gets @2mpg better and some more power, but the seats not laying flat and the 6” loss of cargo space was a deal breaker for me.

Edit.. They still only have an 18 gallon tank. WTF? Add a few gallons.

Maybe give it a little more time. We averaged over 20 on a 600 mile trip recently.

You can turn that off in the settings menu. First thing I had the dealer do when they were showing me the car.

I have a black GX 550 with the Luxury+ trim. She is a phenomenal vehicle, fantastic ride. This is my 3rd GX and I’ll drive her until the wheels fall off.

Only thing I haven’t been fond of is that you can’t move the 2nd row captain’s chairs back.

Expensive, hell yes she is but damn if she ain’t a bad bitch…
