Because parents now are selfish.
My daughter doesn't get electronics, especially during meal time.
Well, actually, she does watch a cartoon for 10 minutes while we shower in the morning.
There are a million different things to do to snap them out of the whining, other than giving them exactly what they request.
You just have to try a little harder.

I don’t have kids. My SO has a 9 year old, and she does not use electronics at meals. She’s old enough to behave.
I don’t begrudge parents having a few minutes of peace. They’re damned if they do, damned if they don’t. If they let their 3 year old whine and carry on in a restaurant or airplane or whatever, then everybody judges them for not controlling their kid. If they let the kid watch a movie, then they’re judged for being lazy shitty parents.

We don't bring our iPad to restaurants for our daughter. She is generally pretty good about entertaining herself.
Although there are times, when we go out with friends, that we will let her play games on our phones.
4 years old are just not meant to sit still for an hour or 2 while the adults visit. They need something to occupy their minds.
This is why we frequent a restaurant that has a little "yard" on the side of the patio where kids can go play. Gives mom and dad time to relax and enjoy a drink or 2 while the kids play with each other. I wish more restaurants would do this.

At such a young age, these iPads are reworking the child's brain. All these parents are fricking their kids up but won't find out until its way too late.
Also every parent on here seems to be a lazy POS who hates life, their jobs, their state, hates being married, and wants any reason not to have to be a parent.
