Letting kids play on iPads at restaurants

Really would like to know why most people (and yes, probably most of you) allow your kids to bury themselves in iPads or iPhones at the dinner table. Is interacting with your kid too much for you to handle?
This isn't a high-horse thread. Im really interested in the mentality behind this

Because sometimes you’re just tired of the incessant whining.
Did people in the 80s bitch when restaurants gave kids crayons & a menu with activities?

My child is so excited to get its southwestern egg rolls at chili's that we can leave the chrome book at the house

Actually, several restaurants back then would not allow kids in the restaurant under a certain age.

Attention span of a child is much shorter than adults. If my children have eaten, behaved well, and exhausted other possible entertainment, I don’t see any reason why they can’t watch some videos why the adults finish eating.
I have seen some parents allow their kids to watch videos the entire meal which I disagree with.

I don't like it but I understand it. Some of these kids are so hopped up on meds that they can't sit still without some screen in their face.

If, by some miracle, my 2 and 4 y.o. are being quiet playing on the iPad while my wife and I enjoy dinner....that's our prerogative. The other 6 nights of the week, we sit together for dinner, fully engaged. For one night, if I want to converse with my wife at the expense of plugging my kids in for 15 minutes, so be it.
....and instead of being passive aggressive and posting shite to the OT, inquire with the parents next time. See where that gets you padna.

I mean if that’s how they choose to raise their kids why do I need to care?

Because I need 10 goddamn minutes of silence so I can shovel some food down my face and get back to the blessing of raising children.

I would like to know why your mom prefers arse to mouth. Actually I really don’t care as long as she doesn’t stop.

You either don't have kids or consider Applebee's a decent restaurant. Or both.

Who gives a frick so long as their kids aren't bothering other patrons?

As if parents only see their kids during dinner

Funny. I don’t care to know anything about you.

What does padna mean? Did you misspell panda? Is that an insult?

Because kids were never given crayons, coloring books, and other attention grabbing things at restaraunts to keep them occupied. Stfu and quit worrying about other people’s kids of it doesn’t impact your life, creep.

Because it gives parents the opportunity to not have to parent. It’s all a distraction. Same reason why parents put on tv shows/movies at home & just sit their kid in front of it. It’s easier to go through the everyday motions of parenting than actually having to parent.

If it keeps the kids setting at a table near me from misbehaving I’m all for it.

You think a tablet is going to cause kids to turn into murdering psychopaths?

Does padna(h) make it a little easier for you to comprehend?
