Let’s talk Haulover inlet in Miami

Been watching these vids for a while. But damn the amount of idiots who own boats is cray af. I think the best tack is to go through fast if you have a 36 plus length.

Negative. Enough speed to stay on plane with the nose up, throttle as necessary to keep the nose up for the next wave

Exactly, unless you have stabilizers that’s the play.
Throttle to plane perpendicular to the waves and maintain speed with everyone and everything secure before you get started.

They are addictive. I think I have watched them all. Not only for the dumbasses but for all the awesome sleds going in and out of that inlet.

Their bodies are no match for the Haulover. There have to be some significant injuries for the people being thrown around like that. I’ve been watching that channel for a long time and have seen boats sink because of those waves and the stupidity of the divers.

Every so often there is a coast guard vessel cruising through right next to the sea wall with no problems.
Most of those idiots battling the waves want to be on camera.

I lived on the East coast of Florida, those inlets are nothing to mess around in. There is a massive tide there compared to Louisiana.

I’ve been in boats all my life, but 98% freshwater. I wouldn’t have the first clue of how to make it through there safely. And you can tell there are people tackling it in rental boats that have zero clue what they’re doing.

In-laws from Miami—I’ve been to Blackpoint several times and that dude is hilarious. Hell, they bought me some merch from him. My wife’s cousin is head of Miami Dade Police Dept marine patrol and they’re based out of Blackpoint.

Yeah the guy in the front of the first boat messed up his back. A lawyer in Alexandria was on a charter that hit a rogue wave going out of Belle Pass and fractured two vertebrae. F-Ed him up.

First, leave with the rising tide and absolutely not when the tide is falling and a strong easterly wind, that will stack the swells.
Second, trim your motor/trim tabs to raise the bow, get passenger weight to the rear, and drive up the swell and back off right before you crest. In a place like Haulover, you can't change your angle of attack as much because it is a fairly narrow channel.
