car audio systems are the biggest waste of money...just light money on fire

I was serious about the sound deadening, it will do wonders. Your caddys almost 30 yo stuff is probably deteriorating as well. Also give an opportunity to get a good interior detail in, while you run new cables.

We're joking around, but yes, there has been some helpful stuff posted.
This is the the kind of information I was hoping to get out of this thread. Brands, suggestions to improve performance, do's and don'ts, etc.
I'm not trying to blow the windows out or win a bass competition. I just want a little thump to take me back to the 90's. It was the high point of society.

Bruh, my advice can guide this baw into a killer sounding system for less than a grand, and he could do it all himself. No vehicle mods. Just a few cables and some sweet, sweet tunes befitting such a fine ride.
Nobody would know he didn't overspend on his system, and he's still got scratch for his other "modifications".
And yes, some deadening is good advice. Under the back dash without question.

That's the big difference I found in the car audio game these days. All those name brands you knew and loved are not the go to anymore.. There are 100s of new brands that you never heard of.
Hell even 15 yrs ago when I put my last system in I used ground zero amps and subs, crystal components and dls components. Never heard of those at the time and were light years better than the name brand shite I used in the past.

Alphasonic amp and get some Stillwater speakers, Pioneer 6x9's and get a Marantz deck. You will be the talk of the town.

That's my budget. About a grand. Here is where I'm at...
Alpine Head Unit and dash mount kit that fits a '93 Sedan Deville.
$197
2x Clarion SE6935R 6×9? + 2x SE1625R 6.5" Speakers + Blaupunkt 1600W Amp + Kit Or... Cerwin Vega CVP1600.4D 1600W Amp + 4x XED Power Coaxial Speakers + 4-CH Amp Kit
$175------------------------------------------------------------------------------------>$190
Vented Port Single 12 Kicker Comp C12 Sub Box & CXA4001 Amp
$265
That's $640-$660 before install. I've done some car audio installation myself in the past, but willing to pay to have it look professional and be done correctly.

Just add some Sound deadener. For a car it's gonna be a pain in the arse job but I would do it before any system. Make sure to use gloves too. I used rammat I believe in my truck. From firewall, doors, floor, back, everthing but the roof and dashboard.

For the 6.5" and 6X9", you should look at JBL, Infinity, JL, Polk Audio. Cerwin-Vega makes good stuff, but I think they're pricey and there are decent speakers to be had at a lower pricepoint. You're after clarity. No distortion. A decent 4 channel amp--JBL, Rockford-Fosgate, BOSS Audio. You don't need to break the bank, but you want something with clean power.
You have to be kidding me. Every brand you mentioned except JL is mid-to-lower tier and overpriced crap in the case of BOSS. JL, Focal are very good SQ and Hertz is quality stuff (although they have a huge product line and not all models are equal). Rockford Fosgate is the Bose of marine, bike and car audio- way overpriced and living off their reputation and marketing. Some models of RF amps also are known to overheat. You can't go wrong with an all JL system- speakers and amps. Their amps push good, clean power.

-Get a component set up front. Morel Maximo 6 is arguably one of the best bang for your buck sets currently.
-You don't need rear speakers. But if you feel like you must, get another component set or the matching coax set.
-Sound deadening is imperative if you care at all about sound quality.
- I feel like Image Dynamics offers good subs for the dollar, but there are plenty of good options. A single 12" in a ported enclosure is typically more than sufficient for most people who want good sound
- Get your enclosure built to spec for the sub that you buy. This is important. Different subs have different space requirements. Some subs like a sealed box, others like ported, some do well in either environment. For a ported enclosure, the enclosure itself will need to be tuned to the correct frequency.
-Amplify all of your speakers, not just your sub. This is important. Most aftermarket speakers will not sound very good without amplification.
-Lots of people into these days use a DSP which will allow very fine tuning. Up to you if you want to go that route. It is very beneficial.
-I like Zapco amps and US acoustic amps. I also like to overpower my subs/speakers. i.e, I like to use an amplifier that produces more RMS wattage than what the speaker calls for. This allows for headroom. Its very important to also set your gains correctly on your amp.

Drop an EQ in the mix. Trust me on this. You won't get near the control from a head end unless you spend a lot more money. This is another $40. Put it in the glove box so it's out of the way but accessible.
Look, these O-Ters are going to give you all kinds of advice, and they're going to piss and moan about every suggestion here. There are some very good brands out there--as many brands as there are baws with shitty opinions, including mine.
Stay your price range. We're building you a mid-range system. Wanna spend twice as much? Knock yourself out. I promise it won't sound twice as good. You get into the law of diminishing returns. You're objective is clarity and fidelity.
O-T ballas with fat stacks DGAF about your decision. I know you have other things to tend to, and this is going to deliver great satisfaction. Your head-end should have, in the very least, Bluetooth or an SD slot of some sort. Make sure. And have fun.

You're in a far east Texas county close to the La border correct?

I have two Fosgate 12s in my truck on a Punch 250 and four 6x8 Kickers on a Sony 75 watt amp. Sounds amazing. I've also had a Memphis 12 in a hot box in that truck it was really good too.
