If I were screwing the Coach's wife behind his back, I'd let it slide.

I see at least two equipment managers in this thread

I mean, it depends. Is he just holding it or is he being forceful? Football is a tough sport. I have no problem with arse chewings.
I haven’t played since high school, but we played tough football. We didn’t always have the best athletes, so it was all about ball breaking, downhill football. Therefore, we got some severe arse chewings when we fricked up. I have no problem with coaches being tough on kids. They’re soft as it is.

If he's 8, yes. Don't ever yell and fuss at 8 yr Olds in any sport.
In 8th grade, I'm gonna laugh at his arse over supper and be like "I bet you don't do that shite again huh?"

I dont like the cursing at him, but sure. Grabbing the facemask and making him accountable helps him toughen up.

Well yea. Cursing has a range.
'God dammit boy. What are you doing?' is perfectly fine even at catholic school football games. Trust me.
'you stupid mfer are you frickin braindead?' I'm pullin my 8th grader out the game right then and hope his coach says something to me.
My son better be on scholarship somewhere to be talked to like that.

If my son was 6-12? I would probably have a problem with it, that's a little too young for the hardass coach approach.
Jr. high and up, I'm fine with it. I benefitted greatly from a hardass for a coach in Jr high and high school, as did my teammate Darren McFadden. We didn't have the typical screw-ups on and off the field that other teams dealt with, and it was solely due to having some discipline instilled in us
Also, the Razorbacks best coach in my lifetime was the one and only hardass we've hired in that timeframe. His attitude trickled down to the players and they were tough as nails.
It makes me sad that this type of FB coach is going the way of the dinosaur. Kids today especially need this kind of discipline instilled in them.

Don’t ever pull your kid. The shite he will get from his peers will be 100 times worse than the arse chewing.

Please do it!!! That’s what your coach is wanting you to do! Get that little pussyfoot out of here!!!

Really depends on the action. If coach walks up to kid and grabs facemask without yanking him or it around just so he forces the kid to look at him in the eyes, fine. If coach grabs the facemask and yanks it, of probably be pissed.
Coach in his face yelling... Normal football stuff.
ETA personal insults would probably be an issue too.

I love it. Coaches yell, so what?

These are all hypotheticals and shite. I can't imagine a coach these days saying that to an 8th grader.
Now in HS at practice that definitely happens. I got it frequently for grabassing between drills and shite. had a coach kick me square in the butthole under my butt pad. I played it off but wanted to fall down and hold ma butt.

Braylyn had to give up football to concentrate on his pitching.

Deal with it. No pussies need apply.

Think that's the consensus. Jr high on up, yelling at them and a 'damn' or 'shite' is fine while holding his facemask to get his attention and keep it.
Just don't personally attack the kid for being retarded or stupid.

Part of football. Parents and society have become such pussies.

Nothing wrong with a good arse chewing from a coach. Teaches character. As long as he isn't physically violent you should let him learn those life lessons on his own, unless you have dreams of him being a vegan hipster and writing for the Huffington Post.

I get on my 5 year olds arse for not paying attention during a tball game. I would have no problem for a football coach chewing his arse, especially in 8th grade.
