So I take this is "I'm a beta and my wife hates when the coach is mean to Braxton" day......

Grab a facemask and twist a kid around: OK only in the NFL
Curse at a kid: OK in high school.
Yell at a kid: OK at any age.

It would depend on how hard face mask was grabbed and demeanor of the coach.
Also, is that how the coach interacts with players?
Or did he lose it for that moment?
As a general rule the coach shouldn't put his hands on the players, but.... if it happens, doesn't necessarily mean the coach was abusive or out of line.
Maybe the kid doesn't listen and needed his head rattled!

That was pretty much standard practice when I was growing up. I wouldn't have a problem with it.

I coach HS football. I’ll grab a face mask to make sure they are looking at me when I’m telling them something. I’ll curse and yell as well but nothing demeaning. It’s more to get my point across. The point is for them to learn from their mistakes and not break them down. A lot of kids on my team don’t have dads in the picture. We take over that role and it works. Teachers and parents are always telling us how well behaved troubled students have become since joining the team.

That's just part of football, especially if he's already in middle school.

Little cursing? Grabbing the face mask for attention? A ok with me.
It’s really obvious if the coach is abusing/degrading a kid vs. coaching a kid.

He makes a mistake in the game and the coach is cursing at him and grabs his facemask.
woody hayes.
No way.
The gesture presupposes some great matter, as if life and death.
Its out of proportion.
1. One warning. You do that again and ill jump you during the game.
2. 2nd time i jump him from behind and strangle him until crowd pulls me off.

For the life of me I can't figure out why grabbing a facemask is such a big deal now.
