well, it’s true i conveniently don’t have a personal network of doctors and virologists that back up my internet opinions. so that’s fair.

Saying there wasn’t enough data on March 9th to make any conclusive decision is the definition of sitting the fence and allowing those in charge keep you and everyone else locked up for no other reason than fear of appearing to not doing enough.

Whatever, guy. If you want to use the negative connotation that comes with "sitting the fence" because you think it helps your argument, fine.

This is where you take another giant leap forward.

We can call it something else if it helps you.

There is no leap. We all know what happened. Everything I said and because so many people were lied to that we could be the next Italy. And they believed it while what happened in South Korea or the ships was ignored completely, or as you say, taken with the same data as places like Italy as if they were at all equal. See the problem?

ETA: lockdowns began that very weekend. There wasn’t any new data. And no one really put up a fight because of the mentality you still have. That’s my point. I don’t blame the government for taking away our liberty. I blame everyone like you who let them take it from us without a word because you were still “digesting data.”

There are antibodies to the covid spike protein floating around in your blood stream right now. The only way you could be considered a pure blood is to have lived in a bubble and had zero interaction with other people since the summer of 2019.

I had an antibody test every year since 2020. Negative every time. I didn’t get one this year as I think it’s a waste of money as I will seemingly never get it. Obviously, never had the vaccine either.

Everyone in my immediate family got it. No idea why I never did.

Yes. I see the problem. The problem is you are assuming that everyone who didn't outright demand the country not shutdown on March 9th is some bad actor supporting ulterior motives. No one I trusted supported any of the positions you just used as evidence. None said we were going to be the next Italy. None ignored data coming out of South Korea or quarantined ships. Again, what they didn't do was make the conclusions you were making at the time because there wasn't enough evidence at the time, no matter how much you want to believe there was. What the the vast majority of them did do was after collecting even more data, begin supporting the revocation of many of the closure and distancing mandates rather quickly. You don't want to accept of that. That's the leap.

I don't think I need to comb through 400 pages. This part reeks of I told you so hindsight.

What memory hole bullshite is this?

ETA: Louisiana was in phase 2 all the way until March 2021. Are you really going to say that was “rather quickly?”

Responding again with this:

NC State made the college World Series in summer 2021 where they had to forfeit because a few players tested positive. We are talking about college-age athletes showing zero signs of infection yet we were still in a place where it was deemed unsafe for them to leave quarantine. We had tons of data showing that this group wasn’t in the least bit susceptible to hospitalizations much less death. That’s the kind of shite that was still taking place over 16 months after the lockdowns began. Yet here you are defending it. And defending the mentality that lead to it all.

C'mon, man. I already told you who I used as trusted sources and why. Why are you still trying to paint me as some covid statist. Because that's the way your narrative works?

Traffic was great. And i didn’t mind the “social distancing”. I don’t like people enough for them to be closer than 6 feet.

Ok. This is futile. I think you either still don't get my point or you're choosing to ignore it. I'm not sure which because now you're just throwing more stuff at the wall and assuming I agreed with it. I didn't agree with any of those actions, but who cares? You're painting your own narrative of what I believe based on nothing I've actually said.

Of all the stupid, illogical rules, I think this one gets a bad rap. It wasn't stupid or illogical; it was just incorrect. At the time, we believed that covid spread via liquids, so people were told to wear masks while walking through the restaurant (potentially talking) so their saliva wouldn't land on people/plates/etc. Now, it turns out that was wrong, and covid could spread as an aerosol, so the masks while walking through the restaurant served no purpose, as it could still spread just as easily through the air when seated. But in a paradigm in which people were working with imperfect information, it wasn't an unreasonable compromise between letting restaurants operate business as usual and forcing restaurants to shut down entirely.

Plenty of other dumb shite to point out, but I don't think this one should be lumped in with that.

No offense, but you are either stupid or are completely misremembering things.

First of all, just on the surface of what you just said…how often do you think saliva gets onto people and plates? Especially when simply walking to your table (talking or not).

But the initial stance was that only the N95 masks protected anything. Then they changed that back to cloth and paper masks. And don’t get me wrong, pulling up your shirt over your mouth or covering it with your hand would help. But those are ridiculous solutions, just like masks were.

And I'm not saying masks were useless initially. Just that it did not take very long to realize that they did nothing and weren’t useful. Yet we still had to wear those dumb fricking things to live basic life. And not just because “we didn’t know,” but because we were flat out lied to. Over and over again. On purpose. That should infuriate any normal US citizen with basic reasoning and logic. Yet it doesn’t, and only a certain percentage (mainly from one side of the aisle) seem to be. It makes no sense.

It’s pretty cool seeing the last time some of these people posted—some in that thread post to the present day, but a lot dropped off the face of the earth (although they had a huge post count at the time).
