Lee Circle bead lady getting death threats

“It's unacceptable that people threaten somebody's life over the disagreement of a political opinion. And the very people that wanted the monuments to come down, because of the violence the men represented in their minds, they are the ones who are upset and suggesting violence.”

Ms. Forever Lee Circle further explained why she created the beads.
“In New Orleans, we acknowledge, we commemorate, we celebrate everything. I thought, 'I'm upset about this, I'm sad about it.' I'm not ashamed to say that I'm upset that monument is no longer there. And it should be okay that I say that, and it should be okay that I do something constructive to give people an outlet to say this was not what I felt in my heart should have happened.”

I disagree. I think she makes a good point. How does hating the fact that Mitch is trying to base a national political run off of taking down a statue equal hating black people? This is the very thing that the "progressives" use to quell any dissent. Disagree with us and we will brand you racist! It is the ultimate threat in todays environment. Mess with them and likely lose your job, friends and possibly worse.

I’m reading “Grant” by Chernow and just finished the portion covering c.1865-86 including Lee’s actions after Grant confirmed his immunity from prosecution.

Not to excuse her opponents but she’s been racist in her social media at times... it’s not juuuuuust the beads.
Shouldn’t threaten violence either - but when you double (and triple) down on terrible behavior publicly, I don’t mind your employer or associates pulling away from you.
