I cannot blame the students for suing. Colleges have gone so overboard with spending, tuition increases and up to dozens of added on fees that it is hard to keep up.

Online is not the same and they are not delivering near the same product online. If you are in a STEM major there are no labs. Upperclassmen in liberal arts classes are missing out on the small discussion groups that are important components of some classes.

I am willing to eat what I paid this year but if colleges plan to go online in the fall they best be prepared for charging less.

College fees are a scam, eliminate any major that doesn't offer a direct path to a job and make it a minor if people desire that.

You had me with everything else but I wholeheartedly disagree with this point. Programs like zoom, gotomeeting, Skype, Teams, FaceTime and google hangout are exactly what this is for.

They were already wasting their money. This changes nothing.

Colleges definitely need to go online more and for anyone that's able to scoop up a fully online schedule, they should be allowed to have their fees waived that relate to campus operations.

Universities need to be trimmed.

I propose cutting almost all fields. We should be teaching English, Latin, Greek, Hebrew, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Genetics, Engineering, Fine Arts, Music, Philosophy, Religion, and History. Almost all other fields should be cut.

Supporting staff in universities also need significant culling. No university in America should cost more than $10,000 in tuition annually.

Exactly. You'd go from "university" to "technical college" with that idea handing out associates degrees.

I’d actually support that.

Technical certificates could be provided by technical colleges or programs.

It’s not the colleges fault. There are people out there who have the money and choose to study things that are interesting like a foreign language, or the arts. If a student wants to make the mistake of going into debt to get a worthless degree when they know they need to make money afterwards then that is on them. I started as a music major (guitar) and changed majors after one year because I came to the this realization. Capitalism will weed these stupid decisions out after a generation or two.

So you don't know what 'liberal arts' means AND you can't spell kumbaya.

No it’s not, but if you are in a degree field that requires laboratory research and instruction such as biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, you should be pissed right now.

You can hold the entirety of French or English major via web cam. You can’t do organic chemistry lab in your kitchen.

But what is the school charging for that degree, and why is it so expensive?

That’s where these institutions with their bloated and highly paid bureaucracies are wholly at fault. They are robbing their students blind, to pay for their own comfortable existence.

Well, my experience is that the classes for online cost the same as on campus. Hopefully that may change in the future.
