I don't post here, but I saw a discussion the other day about law school that intrigued me. I'm a graduating senior in marketing from lsu, already taken the LSAT, applied, and have been accepted to Tulane, Loyola, Southern Methodist, U of H, and LSU. LSU, Houston, and Loyola have offered me full scholarships, Tulane offered me 25k a year and SMU offered 30k per year.

Could someone with knowledge and experience in this area give me some insight about choosing a school? Is it worth the cost to attend Tulane over Loyola? Does an SMU degree provide me with better options as a common law school instead of civil? I'm really just stressing out and wanted to hear opinions based on facts not just for opinions sake.

Thanks in advance!

I went to law school on a full ride, and I wouldn't do it over if I could.

While anecdotal, one of my best childhood friends has a law degree and is still living at home.

This is probably the best answer. Although this thread will probably go 8 pages, he sums it up pretty well.

Your rank in lawschool is the most important factor in determining your job opportunities. You won't get an interview with most firms that come on campus unless you're in the top 25% or better. So, since you have full rides, I'd pick the school where you have the best chance to outperform your peers. Loyola may be your best bet, with LSU being second. In my experience, where you get your degree is not nearly as important as where you finish in your lawschool class.

You see all those lawyers on TV?

Do you think they advertise that much because they have more work coming in than they can do, or because the market is saturated?

Debt sucks. Go to a free ride one. Pick your favorite of them.
