I find mild comedic value in listening to the Weather nation Mets butcher LA town and parish names

Weather Channel had "LaFourche Parrish" on the screen earlier, then weathernation had "Lake Charles, TX" twice in one shot.

The one thing I'll say is that Laura doesn't seem to have an incredibly large rain shield. Most of the rain is pretty compact towards the center.

People can claim Katrina was only cat 3 when it made landfall but the impacts from Katrina defied the saffer Simpson scale.

I never seen trees do what they did during Katrina. Never saw water do what it did.
And damage was from mandeville to mobile bay All the way up to Hattiesburg ms

Katrina is in a class by itself

Lol I just talked to a friend of mine in Mc and he was outside laughing at the 10mph wind gust

I guess he doesn’t know what’s coming.

Sure easy to say that, but what if you don't own any wheels or even drive? Yes, there are folks like that out there. Sad.

Hold onto a tree and climb as the water comes up. You might make it. However, not many trees in that area.

I knew a guy that survived Katrina in Bay St. Louis by doing this. He talked about all the bodies that kept floating by as he climbed higher.

Baton Rouge. The supervisor still hasn’t notified us if we are working or not but seems like the bad stuff if you want to call it that will be out of our area early in the morning. He told the drivers who goes to New Orleans to stay home Monday morning because of Marco. When I got back from my route one of the other drivers told me that he ended up calling them at 11am to come in and run their routes. Some didn’t answer their phone and I don’t blame them lol.

KPLC has a roku and amazon fire app that allows you to watch their local broadcast. I put it on a few minutes ago and its just them showing the radar

Correct me if I’m wrong about Katrina, I was in BR for it but New Orleans would have been pretty ok had it not been for the levees busting right? Katrina hit Bay St. Louis head on. Not New Orleans right?

Recon update 8:15pm CDT: central pressure estimate fell slightly again compared to the previous measurement. #Laura's intensification is still not over. Eye now ~75 miles from landfall.

It might have been Cat 3 winds, but it was Cat 5 storm surge. Winds can die down, water has momentum and won't slow quickly.

I thought the city and state provides resources and places to arrange assistance if that is in fact your situation. Even if it's just transportation to a shelter.

This is correct.

The dude who said Katrina was in a class by herself is not correct.

There are quite a few storms that have fricked shite up.

shite's about to get relatively real in Morgan City, New Iberia, and Lafayette with this band. Conditions are deteriorating all along the SWLA coast now too, and they won't stop for another 8 or so hours. Damn.
Can't wait. I think one of the more stressful aspects of this storm is the fact that it's hitting at night.
