Duke would you say the eye is due south of LC now or is LC a little further West.
It looks to me if the eye is moving just west of north, but not NNW. You?
On radar the eye is pretty much due south maybe 5 miles east of grand cheniere

Two days ago this was a forecasted Cat 1... People have been caught way offguard
No, it wasn't. This was always a storm with an extremely high ceiling. Everything was in place for it to bomb out. It was always forecast to be a "potential" major hurricane.
No one should be caught off guard if they live on the Gulf with a storm heading their way in the peak of hurricane season.

Joined a FB group about Laura and they got these old ladies staying in LC because they have pets. The pets and granny aren’t gonna make it. Like that is so sad. In a couple of hours their lives will change drastically.

Would you judge intensity by barometric pressure or would wind speed be a better measure?

Just looking at a map that seems like a really, really bad idea.

You need to evacuate north to DFW with that stuff next time.

Both. But winds are what matters at landfall.

Somebody go wake up Cantore. Then we’ll know the shite is real.
He’ll be up shortly.
He’ll obviously be the landfall guy donning a baseball helmet and drama.

There’s some incredible books and firsthand accounts of people that survived that hurricane. Readings might not be accurate, but the complete destruction, storm surge, and winds are well documented.
No shite? I'm going to have to check that out.
