That may explain a handful of people, but most are just too stubborn to leave. The inconvenience of packing and leaving > than the inconvenience of 100mph winds, in their mind at least.

My speedometer doesn’t have a knots setting.

Actually it was Sunday for me and I was listening to the opinions of actual professionals. You got facts to back up your opinions?

I simply stated the storm had the chance to come in east of the La border, around Cameron. Not sure why that pissed you off so much but I will not argue with you in here....So you sir, have a nice day and good luck with the storm wherever she may land.

I'm too lazy sometimes to do the conversion. Something like 140 mph or so.

I stayed thru Gustav. Yeah 2 weeks without power sucks, but not being allowed to come back and start cleaning up for a week or 2 sucks worse

Impossible. Do like the rest of us and Google. There aren't many sailors here.

Yeah that courthouse will pull through again but I bet the people who decided to ride it out during Rita will advise not to do it. My previous in-laws are from Grand Chenier so I was able to get into Cameron parish a few days after Rita's landfall. It was incredible to see. The thing I always remember is how all the utility poles along 82 got ripped down and floated inland on the surge. The cables holding them together didn't break so they acted like a long band saw cutting into the oak trees along hwy 82. Cameron was leveled and nothing but a big mud flat.

Sadly this is about to be repeated.

Yea my aunt lives down there in Cameron. House survived Rita and Ike, but if it's about a true 15' the house will be gone this time. Every other time just the stairs and garage had everything washed away. Ike put a small amount of mud in the house, Rita didn't.

Hoping for the best for them, but doesn't look good. They are leaving this morning and getting out.

Yeah 6 hours. Laura went from a Cat 1 to a Cat 3 while I slept. I'm sorry for failing on my watch.
