Looking at Havana Cuba radar, center appears to more north than what NWC coordinates. About 50 or so miles. If Laura crosses Cuba and enters gulf somewhat more north, could shift track more east

Radar will fool you with this type storm. It is tilted with the LLC and MLC not quite stacked completely. The LLC is farther south, and has been the more dominate circulation that is trying to stack the storm. We likely won't see a well defined eye until it is past Cuba and over open water.

Hard to imagine how a storm that is crisscrossing the path of a storm that went right ahead of it is going to be so much more intense.

Hopefully it stays a Cat 1 or a weak 2.

3. Hurricane conditions are possible by late Wednesday from Port Bolivar, Texas, to west of Morgan City, Louisiana, with tropical storm conditions possible by Wednesday afternoon, and a hurricane watch has been issued. Additional hurricane watches may be needed farther south along the Texas coast if the track forecast shifts toward the south and west tonight and Tuesday.

Sounds like they think a westerly change is more likely than east

This is the most stressful time of year to be a citizens safety coordinator of a master planned community working hand in glove with the local sherrifs office. Thankfully we just got our new windbreakers in.

I hope the covid contingency plans come easy to yall.

Somebody remind me what mph was Rita at landfall

Rita was 100 knots (115 mph) Low end Cat 3 wind at landfall but had Cat 4/5 surge built up.

Pressure was 937 millibars at landfall.

For comparison Audrey was 946 millibars but winds were 125 mph at landfall.

Very true.

That and the fact that we hadn't had a major hurricane in decades make a direct hit so you had a bad combination of an old power grid, overgrown trees/landscape, and a lot of old buildings/roofs.

What will the interaction be with the remnants of Marco once Laura gets closer to landfall?

Marco is soaking South Carolina.
Sunny in Baton Rouge.
I don't remember the TWC mentioning how much rain Georgia and South Carolina were going to get from Marco.
