How hard is it to siphon gas out a car? Never done it on a modern car.

Out of curiosity, have you been in an area that took a direct hit? Truly not being ugly -- just curious about people's experiences.

A tree fell through my living room as we were watching the levees collapse in New Orleans during Katrina, but under no circumstances was that a direct hit or anything. We were like 120 miles from the storm at the time.

Short answer is no. I'm in a similar area of the state as you and evacuated for all the ones you did. Closest I got was 45 MPH sustained and 65 MPH gusts during Barry last year. That was enough to convince me I've got no desire to sit through hurricane force sustained winds with my family if we have other options.

Where is the map showing 00z models guidance coming from? We aren’t even at 00z yet. I’m confused. It shows a shift east.

Andrew. Pretty damn scary.

Way after Andrew and in 2006, hurricane Wilma supposedly a category 1 storm (a worthless calibration by the way) traveled Southwest to Northeast across south Florida from Naples to Boca Raton. Every stoplight in Broward County and northern Dade was blown away. All the old wooden utility poles...gone. Power out for WEEKS. Condo building made out of reinforced steel/poured concrete VIBRATED and actually swayed. Later I think Wilma was upgraded in intensity because locals who’d been in Ft Lauderdale for 50 years said it was the worst storm they’d seen and they had seen some.

I'm with you.

I don't have confidence that I will remain that way forever.

I don’t mind a cone shift. Lord knows it’s not an exact science. My problem is when the hurricane is allowed to leave the cone it makes the cone worthless.

, not sure if serious given your typical posts, but 60-70% of storms spend their entire life within the cone.

Can't. Tried that with my 35 gallon tank on my truck a few weeks ago for my Generator at the beach.

I have a hand syphon. There is like a screen or small hole above the tank with a 1/4 opening. Prevents gas theft and also if you roll over a little ball in there acts like a check valves.

You can try to rope the hole with a small price of tubing. Has to be pretty rigid.

kit. video shows you how they rope the hole. like a catheter.

Ref: marco getting tore up

yeah, this is looking good for the La coast. Marco getting the top torn off and can't sustain the intensity.

Laura, however is going to be a concern for whoever gets the pleasure of escorting her to the ball.

Winds 55 mph and that might be aggressive

Yeah. I know the NHC goes on trends and continuity from one advisory to the next, but there haven't been any 75 mph winds measured in Marco since 10 hours or more ago.

They may keep him as a hurricane for one more update cycle, but he doesn't look like one anymore.
