Shear at 30 to 40 knots ripping Marco apart, and it is stronger in the direction he's heading.

Laura, on the other hand is only restricted by land at the moment.

Dr. Knabb on TWC (also former NHC Director) just mentioned the “potential” that Laura could become a major hurricane over the Gulf. He didn’t say it would, just mentioned it as a possibility.

From the NHC discussion at 4PM:

Although not explicitly shown, Laura could threaten the northwestern Gulf coast near major hurricane strength.

At this point, it wouldn't be a huge surprise. Everything is in its favor.

You are pretty good on tornado threads.

Maybe you are like me and weak on tropical systems.

I don’t post in Hurricane threads because it isn’t my thing.

Looking out for those who don’t know what they’re looking at when they see radar images.

Using the RadarScope measuring tool, it looks like Marco’s center is roughly 190 miles SSE of the mouth of the Mobile Bay.

It looks like what the NHC has tagged as the low level center is about to work itself off the coast of Manzanillo, Cuba.

If it gets stacked and stays off the southern coast of Cuba, it will likely be ahead of schedule by the time it gets past Cuba.
