ew Orleans will be taking an incremental approach to further easing of coronavirus restrictions when officials lay out what Phase 3 of its reopening plan looks like later this week, Mayor LaToya Cantrell said Wednesday.

Whatever the new restrictions look like, Cantrell suggested they would not amount to cancelling Halloween in the city.

Responding to a question about Halloween, Cantrell said she had just received an email from a 7-year-old resident worried she planned to cancel trick-or-treating and assured her that would not be the case.

Cantrell said Halloween already involves outdoor activities, seen as less risky for spreading the virus, and masks, which will remain mandatory.

"It will go on," she said. "It will be unique of course as we go through this pandemic but there will be guidelines specifically on Halloween."

The good news is that kids will be able to go get free shite that bad new is that Bars will still remain closed until we reach Phase 5!

I assume there were trumpets blaring while someone rode in on horseback yelling, "OFFICIAL DECREE FROM THE QUEEN", before reading said decree to the townspeople.

Exactly. And her idiot supporters are probably all over social media praising her.

She needs to open the bars and start allowing live music, etc.

Wonder if she will be persuaded if I get my 9 year old to write to her that 'Daddy wants the corner bar opened'?

Just make a mask mandate on 10/31 - fits with the Halloween motif anyway.

If nothing else, gotta keep up the one tradition centered around teaching begging for handouts as a virtue to children . Lol

Did I miss a fricking meeting? When did trick-or-treat become a government sponsored/controlled event? it's not illegal to knock on someone's door and ask for candy so long as there is implied consent of the homeowner for you to do so....which is EXACTLY what trick-or-treating is!!!

The fact that the general public thinks a mayor/governor can "cancel" Halloween is INSANE, only surpassed in insanity by the fact a mayor/governor might think they can "ban" it.

Holy shite people! The fact that there is even a discussion of whether or not a mayor can "cancel" trick-or-treating should infuriate EVERY American. Over the course of the last 7 months we have allowed unprecedented levels of government overreach in our lives. (Many have fricking cheered it on!!) At some point there has to be SOMETHING that wakes you up to realize just how utterly absurd this whole episode is and has been. Maybe the suggestion that the mayor may have the ability to cancel "trick or treat" is it. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!
