Unless they're blocking Western VPNs themselves, or they're invading the United States or Europe to shut down facebook physically, yeah, VPNs would help.

It all boils down to that old adage
Only now the cavalry mounts eat gas instead of grass and drink oil.
The reason that horse Armies prevailed on the steppes is that they were their own supply lines in a way.

There have been 3-5 USAF and RAF aerial refueling planes on the borders of Ukraine all day. Some over Poland and some in Romania. Any ideas as to what that may be about?

Damn. Just imagining Putin's shame if Russia is somehow sent packing with tail tucked firmly between their legs.
I’m rooting hard for them since I think that would also prevent China from invading Taiwan. That is a much more difficult place to invade especially since there won’t be bombings, the Air Force would only be there for support, and it is completely amphibious. Pray for the people in Ukraine.

US armored units can go for something like 12 hours then have to refuel. The amount of fuel a brigade burns in a day is stupid. Like 500,000 gallons

I am aware of a fellow who was just sent to Poland a few weeks ago. Gotta feel for the guy. He enlisted less than 8 months ago and according to his family, received very little training.
What branch?

Yeah I still talk to my Chinese friends over Facebook. Queso doesn’t know what he’s talking about per always.

Yeah, Ukraine 233,000 square miles and Texas is 266,000 square miles so not far off.

Ground logistics are insane. People don't comprehend what it takes to keep everything going. I could watch just that and be entertained.

No doubt. I'm no military expert but from what I understand Taiwan's military is far better equipped, trained, and motivated relative to Ukraine. Plus, as you mentioned they have the advantage of being an island.
If a submarine or missile were able to sink just 1-3 Chinese ships that right there could be hundreds, if not thousands of casualties.
I remember hearing Taiwan being described as like a porcupine. They could never beat China straight up, but they could make it so painful and costly for China that it's just not worth the fight.
The more NATO actually has a united front and gets involved in Ukraine is an even worse sign for China. I know, I know Taiwan is on the other side of the world and not a part of NATO, but I think if China sees how much the West gets behind Ukraine and condemns Russia for what's going on that'll make China think twice just for economics sake.

Russia going full China, shutting down access to Facebook for most of its citizens: Twitter
Not that it’s going to stop them since I’m guessing most of them have VPNs like in China.
When Russia gets to that point they already have capabilities staged at the border that will allow them to shut down internet and cell phone service in multiple areas. The equipment they use for that is mobile and they have their own speciality group to operate it. That equipment was among that staged at the border weeks or months ago.
That is why I said that we should appreciate whatever reports and info we can get from the ground now because it won't be there for long. We will soon be relying on media accounts and whatever is released through official channels via the militaries involved.

It’s only been a couple days now and Ukraine is vast,
This. As much as I would love to see Ukraine put up a successful defense, I don't think two or so days say much. I think even the classic blitzkriegs usually took a few weeks.

A friend trapped in Hostomel village, near the airport, says around 50 Russian tanks and 50 grad launchers gathered and moved toward Kyiv at 1800 - there has been heavy exchange of fire in that direction since. He said the airport had been destroyed and could not be used to land.
Well at least Russia cant land anything there.

Russia lost a good number of troops trying to take the Hostomel airfield. They wanted it for their own use. I can't imagine they wanted to see it completely destroyed.
