Me too. Would be crazy to se them flip in solidarity with the Ukrainians against Moscow and reigniting the Chechen war for independence.
It would be glorious if they pulled a switch just like the Irish in the Battle of Falkirk in Braveheart.
(Which didn't happen in reality, but was a great scene.)

The decision to put boots on the ground in the region was made 8 years ago. Trump winning delayed the plans but this was always going to happen.

When I saw the clip of Mark Warner saying a cyberattack that affects NATO countries could be the trigger, I figured that would be it.

If a cyberattack triggers Article 5, then we are fricked.

Alarming development today as #Russia is enforcing illegitimate maritime claims in the Black Sea by attacking foreign commercial ships
This is about denying #Ukraine resupplies
But it creates the potential for dangerous escalation if NATO is forced to send naval escorts

Delta has severed their codeshare agreement with Russia's Aeroflot. The Delta code will be removed from all flights beyond Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport and Aeroflot’s code has been removed from Delta-operated services from Los Angeles and New York-JFK.
Delta does not operate services to Ukraine or Russia.

In addition, S7 Airlines, a Russian airline that is a member of OneWorld, has cancelled all Europe-bound flights Feb 26-Mar 13.

After the recent talk of Ukraine joining NATO
Didn’t most If not all of this talk stem from aggressive Russian military action?

If article 5 is triggered, what are the next moves on the board? What dominoes fall next? Full scale NATO land invasion of russia? Which countries ally with russia? Does China take advantage of that and weak leadership to invade Taiwan?
Are we really about to see WW3?

Putin wants Kyiv so he can cut off the head of the snake and try to demoralize the resistance. He wants the whole enchilada unless they can somehow battle him to a stalemate.
Putin won’t stop unless he is overthrown in a Russian civil war.

I’m skeptical any of it would happen but a full land invasion of Russia is extremely unlikely. They’d probably have to launch a nuke for that to happen. More likely roll them back to existing borders then negotiate a settlement/severe sanctions (economic and military)

Sooner or later, now, two or five years from now cyber espionage/warfare will be a trigger for a larger, more traditional war. That has to be viewed as pretty much a certainty at this point. Too much of our existence and comfort is wrapped up in the digital world.

Jesus christ I hate having to scroll to read a single tweet
I feel like Europe is prepared to "sacrifice" Ukraine back to Putin as long as the oil and wheat still flow in the long run. Sucks for all of the brave Ukrainians that are getting hung out to dry.
I think a lot of the world-at-large is hesitant for a full-scale WW3. Based on mutually-assured destruction alone, that shite might end with people throwing radioactive rocks at each other which is frankly terrifying to think about
