Yeah and it doesnt risk a lot of finite assets. That looked well planned and executed, which means they have done that before.

I've also seen the Russians take fire and stop the whole element....Its going to be a long AAR after all this is over.

I don't disagree it was effective but the idea of single tanks roaming around just focuses the lens on Ukraine's limited assets.

Russia is going to take a HARD look at itself after this war and make sweeping changes in their military structure.

God help the world if an ultra nationalist Russia actually learns how to fight a modern war.

Russia isn't the Soviet Union circa 1982. They have the same GDP as Brazil and that is before all the economic sanctions they are being hit with. Russia can make all the sweeping changes to their military structure they want, but you aren't closing the huge tech gap and building up forces in any major numbers when Italy can look down at your 2nd rate economy.

Hiding 2 tanks for an ambush is twice as difficult as hiding 1. It's 2022, relatively live up to date satellite imaging is a thing. I'm was more concerned with their accuracy than the quantity.

This is Russia's last chance before demographics turns them into a permanent afterthought.

China and Taiwan are the ones that should be learning lessons. China has just been shown their whole operational doctrine is shite. As for Taiwan, they should be digging tunnels and building or acquiring every drone they can get their hands on. If China invades, hunker down and kill everything aboveground carrying a rifle.

Apparently the plan would be to retreat to the mountainous center of the Island, which supposedly are already full of tunnels, bunkers, etc.

OK. I thought Rockford was well left of me. And Centinel was well to the right. Heh, it's great to be wrong and learn. Props to both of you, and plenty more posters in this thread. And lots of idiots/bots too, they can frick off. This is history that I doubt that we'll see again in our lives, at least I hope not.

Been listening to Hitch 22 today, great quote:

"The real struggle for us is for the citizen to cease to be the property of the state". Adam Michnik (Polish (duh) member of Solidarity).

I probably am to the right of you on certain things, seeing as how I'm a rather rabid libertarian. But in the case of this war, I just have first hand knowledge of Europe, and the Ukrainian people, having lived in Germany over four years, and worked with the Ukrainian military (as well as quite a few other European militaries).

What started it for me was the people from the poliboard arguing that Ukrainians are basically just Russians and they want to be part of Russia.

Make that statement to an actual Ukrainian and see how fast you get your arse kicked.

The vast majority in there are very skeptical of that claim. If you're going to lie you probably shouldn't make it one where anyone could simply look at it and see

The fact there is even a single person thinking that's real is rather bad.
