I get the task is monumental given the position they put themselves in and we don’t exactly seem willing to help by maximizing our own energy to increase global supply, but that gives Russia 5 years of cash flow. Lot happens in 5 years. Also, I thought Russia was cutting everyone off in response anyway?

I was joking, Jesus. I’ve been mocking those people this entire thread. But look over there re: Ukraine and all the same tropes are at play as in that thread.

I just think there is still a place for mechanized warfare.

Agreed. Yes, the Russians are losing some tanks. But they are still advancing. The Ukrainians have done great at slowing the advance down, but nevertheless, the Russians are advancing.

Not to mention the fact that Ukraine never had the capability to do much outside of hit and run attacks on supply convoys or armored attack convoys. It would be a much different challenge for Russia if they were to run into a unit of Abrams tanks. Instead they're running into stuff they know in smaller numbers. The Javelins seem to be fricking them up good though.

Armor still has its place, but imo Air superiority trump's it all. I think if Russia could fly sorties unmolested this thing may have been over last week. Air power is where it's at in a modern conventional war.

I read this thread backwards when i get time, my bad yo. Gotta start with the fresh news and then the older stuff. That's probably the best answer to the question

It means EastMed is going to happen despite the Biden Admin objection to it because of the Green New Deal ideology.

Civil aviation isn't flying over Ukraine. What is the risk?

Not sure where I read it but it sounds like Kyiv has little more than a weeks worth of food and medicine.

The way the Ukrainians are resisting I think they'd be OK with eating rats and boot leather rather than leave Kyiv.

Taiwan and the world should take notice. The calculation here is that the US & Nato desperately want to avoid a direct war with a nuclear power unless directly attacked / invaded.

Strengthen up your nuclear stockpile & you can destroy/ annex a non aligned nation with near impunity ( outside of economic sanctions).

I'm skeptical as hell of news reports on the subject of Ukraine.

But that's only once every 84 pages. Easy for people to forget if you don't continue to remind them.

CNN going all in on the war crimes talk and trying to use it to get Ukraine the MiGs or set up a no fly zone.

Well let's drop the damn pretense ("strategic ambiguity" )that the US is going to ever go to war & save Taiwan. China will take the Island when it damn well pleases it appears.

Curious to watch a recognized country systematically destroyed / taken over . I'm just rubbernecking at this point though.

If the Russians were in Kyiv or any other city they'd be crowing about it. Whatever else is going on, Ukraine has held them off about twice as long as the "experts"predicted and there's no indication they'll fold any time soon.
The Russians haven't met any discernible objectives. That's not media spin.

I have no doubt that China will likely take over Taiwan while we watch.

Long term? The Russians. Have we already forgotten they shot down a Malaysian Air heavy over Eastern Ukraine back in 2014?

As any sensible person is.

I mean, the same people that have howled how biased and fake the news is are now parroting every word they spew as the gospel. It's comical.

Just proves; People want to hear what they want to hear.
