[quote]I think you are ignoring the part where if we don't negotiate an end to the war, then either Russia just goes home (unlikely) or they take the rest of Ukraine. Eventually one of the two will have to happen.[/quote
Agreeing to those terms is the first step to giving Rusdia Ukraine. That’s obvious.

BREAKING: Putin ready for ceasefire but demands 'guarantees' depriving Ukraine of aid
by Kateryna Denisova March 13, 2025 6:15 PM
Russia is ready to agree to the U.S.-proposed ceasefire in Ukraine but demands guarantees that Kyiv will not mobilize or train troops, nor receive military aid during it, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on March 13.
Speaking at a press conference with Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko, Putin said that the end of hostilities should "address the original causes of the crisis," parroting the Kremlin's long-standing narrative about its all-out war against Ukraine.

I dont understand why so many are surprised or shocked or have no clue as to what the Russians want. They tell you exactly what they want if you listen to them.
I remember in February of 2022 Putin said he didn’t want war and they were withdrawing troops from the border.

I said if you offer conditions you know someone won't accept that it is meaningless. I didn't know the conditions of the offer, so no I did not think the offer was meaningless.
You were wrong though, yes.

Putin's reasons have been malleable so it would be difficult for me to keep a straight face while listening to him explain this...
I truth I would ask Putin to put in writing what the "causes" are before any discussions happened ... and hold him to the list for starters...

Nope, still right. Just a delay on being right.

If Z and NATO agreed to no Ukraine in NATO would that end the war?

quote:Not an acceptance of the ceasefire but a counter offer with wildly unrealistic demands. As expected. And he wants to talk to Trump. Not via telephone conversation, but face to face, a far more problematic method, adding more delays in an attempt to isolate Kyiv.

Trump needs to step on this fast. If he wants to be the Man, he can't allow either party to dictate anything. Accept the terms with no discussion. Or else.

Ukraine has proposed a ceasefire without conditions. Russia will almost certainly reject this and try to dictate to Witkoff that the US help Russia achieve colonial control of Ukraine, something that Russia could never achieve on its own.

Then we see if there is any actual US policy to get Russia to do what Ukraine has done, to accept a ceasefire, or if the US is an ally of Russian imperialism and this whole process has just been a cover story for American submission to Russian wishes.

If Witkoff comes back from Russia endorsing Russian demands regarding Ukrainian sovereignty we have our answer.

Russia has no more right to dictate anything that happens inside Ukraine than Ukraine has to dictate what happens inside Russia. And the "root causes" of this war are all inside Russia, as the Russians are reminding us.

This point is such a red herring to me... Its not like Putin doesn't have influence within the NATO circle (looking at you Hungary and Turkey) that would negate any application into NATO...
and putting it in writing is about getting Putin officially on record for these issues... not random media misinformation talking points that is clouding the air...
