And you can verify that they are not because they never come to any of the meetings?

But it really doesn’t matter, I have never thought any of them were. They are too ridiculous.

Exactly what is Zelensky supposed to receive in exchange for signing the mineral deal with the US?

Just like banana plantations in Honduras when the US sent in the troops several times in the early 20th Century to put down to protect US economic interests there. That occurred in next door Nicuragua.

We do not see any prerequisites for resuming dialogue with Europe — Peskov

"Europe continues to follow the path of sanctions dive and conviction of continuing the war. This conviction of the Europeans is in complete contrast to the mood to find ways to resolve the Ukrainian conflict"

Works for me. If Russia can give the US a better deal we take that one.

Wow last week you guys were saying Ukraine was not our business, we should mind our own business and stay out of Europe. This week you guys are acting like vultures and going to Europe ti pick over the carcass.
Make up your minds.

OMLandshark would be fired by the FSB for being nuts.

I've always maintained that the rest of you could be Russian bots... or maybe just awful people.

The enthusiastic calls for a new Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact between the US and Russia make those two choices even harder to decide on...

Zelensky told Trump he would sign the rare earth resources agreement.

“Our teams are working very productively with the United States on an economic agreement that we are set to sign in Washington. Mr. President Trump, we would like you to visit Ukraine—it is important for us that American aid continues,” Zelensky stated.

Trump, sitting in the Oval Office alongside Macron and Vance, remained silent.

There are plenty of other pro-Russian posters who don't get that accusation though

Not really, if you go against the Ukraine party line at all in this thread you've almost certainly been accused at some point

We can pull out and we also don't get the minerals deal, either... that can go to Europe fin exchange for security guarantees... or maybe - in a twist of Supreme irony - China!

The US has no legal standing to demand recompensation for support that was given to Ukraine without that being part of the deal. You can't give something and then later attach a debt to it. It was all done legally, with Congressional approval.

So we can just pull ourselves out of it, and let Europe take care of Europe's business.

But we can't ease the sanctions and resume economic partnerships with Russia.

Any chances we take that path?

Zelensky’s Rebellion against US

Zelensky pretends that something depends on him:

‘Peace talks with Russia should not violate the Constitution of Ukraine. It doesn’t matter what ultimatums come from Russia. Let’s do our own thing. Let’s think about what we can do in Europe, what security guarantees we can agree on. I think we’ll succeed.’

It does not sound like they've finished working on the agreement... hammering out the details...

until the pen hits the paper, nothing is certain or signed.

And Trump would not set foot in Ukraine.

Ukrainian workers regularly migrate to Europe for work, especially Poland. This is no different than industrial construction workers in the USA who travel with jobs either for new construction or scheduled maintenance outages (aka turnarounds). In fact it was Louisiana I&E labor who built most of Silicon Valley's production facilities in the 1980's and 1990's when there was a construction boom there. They had already honed their skills in process controls (and robotics) in chemical plants and refineries which had been upgraded from pneumatic and manual controls to electronic controls.

Putin supports Trump's proposal to cut defence spending and invites US to jointly mine aluminium

Tetyana Oliynyk — Monday, 24 February 2025, 22:33

Russian leader Vladimir Putin has expressed support for US President Donald Trump’s proposal to reduce defence budgets by 50% for both the US and Russia, with China "possibly joining later".

Source: Kremlin-aligned Russian news agency TASS, citing Putin

Details: Putin said during a rare earth metals meeting that China could join the initiative to cut defence spending "if it wants to".

Putin also stated that Russia is not concerned with an agreement between Ukraine and the US regarding natural resources. However, he suggested that Russia would be ready to offer the US an opportunity for joint work in the rare earth metals sector. Specifically, Russia is supposedly willing to supply 2 million tonnes of aluminium to the US market, which could "stabilise prices".

Additionally, Russia and the US could launch joint aluminium mining projects, for example, in the Krasnoyarsk Krai. Putin also declared his readiness to invite foreign partners to the territories occupied by Russia, where he said "there are also certain reserves".
