It think the odds are heavily against it. I suspect there are 10000 real life JBs for every astro turfed one (whether paid by Russia or some other state/entity with an interest in fomenting this stuff).

He does it for attention. Every up vote , down vote, and reply feeds his need. If you scan his posts on the poliboard they are not exclusive to Ukraine topics. I would characterize them as "provocative" and "breaking news!!" with the goal being attention.

France to host second summit on Ukraine, European security, Reuters reports

by Tim Zadorozhnyy February 18, 2025 8:41 PM

France plans to host another high-level meeting on Feb. 19 to discuss Ukraine and European security, expanding participation to countries left out of the initial summit, Reuters reported on Feb. 18, citing diplomatic sources.

French President Emmanuel Macron convened the first Paris summit on Feb. 17, bringing together leaders from Europe's largest nations and Britain, as well as NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and top EU officials.

The talks focused on Ukraine's security, its potential NATO membership, and Europe's broader defense strategy.

According to Reuters, Paris has now invited additional European countries and Canada to join the upcoming meeting, either in person or via video link.

The expanded guest list includes Norway, Canada, the Baltic states, the Czech Republic, Greece, Finland, Romania, Sweden, and Belgium.

Its obvious at this point the people of Ukraine deserve a voice in their governance. zelensky has to hold an election, this nonsense about a constitution (that they wrote) and not holding an election is just that.

The only reason he wont is that he knows he will lose in a landslide. And that is the very definition of a dictator.

So, how do you think elections will go in the Russian-occupied parts of Ukraine?

Most of the posters in this thread are pro Ukraine, other than a few politards who pop in maybe once a month or whenever Russia is getting its butt kicked.. Americans I grew up with and was raised by all prefer to support the underdog. We had a kid in my childhood neighborhood who carried around a portable radio all the time. By the age of 10 he was practicing to be a Houston Astros announcer. While he never got his dream job, he did end up owning a small AM station in SW LA and announced college and high school ballgames.

I say this to now say that during the 6 Day War, how all the neighborhood kids cheered that little Israel was kicking arse and taking names of the much larger militaries of the Arab League. None of us had ever even met a Jew much less an Israeli, neither had we met any Arab citizen of those Arab nations. It was all about the underdog winning.

No election can be held when martial law is declared by the legislature. It's up to the legislature not the president.

What is the Russian compromise here? Not taking all of Ukraine?

Accepting peacekeepers- especially if they are from European countries in Nato (that is normally handled through the UN. They are assigned for a certain time and then it goes back to the security council for further consideration) and security agreements for Ukraine. If Ukraine can get the EU part that would also be a compromise.

Russia doesn't have to accept any of them. They have all of the leverage. If Ukraine doesn't accept they will have to go forward without US aid. Ukraine's stands to lose much more if this continues. Europe cannot replace US aid.

It's going to be very hard to get Russia to agree to peacekeepers from Europe. Plus Trump might not be willing to give a US security guarantee.
