And I'm on record as saying that I think that the Russian economy is doing OK for now (though I think that President Trump is going to change that in short order).
I mainly posted that article to see if I could get JB to paste the Bloomberg slide one more time. It's so funny:
Russian Ministry of Finance: "Our economy is great."
Bloomberg: "The Russian Ministry of Finance says that their economy is great."
JB: "See, Bloomberg says that the Russian economy is great!"

It lost money with oil and refined products in 2020 on into 2021. Must be why Gazprom played Enron games with Europe in 2021 with "outages" causing natural gas prices to rise while not filling its leased storage ahead of winter. There was no cheap natural gas in Europe the second half of 2021.

British Defence Intelligence
UPDATE ON UKRAINE
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
24 January 2025
As of mid-January 2025, Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) forces had highly likely sustained around 4,000 casualties in offensive combat operations against Ukrainian forces in Kursk oblast, Russia. Of these, approximately a quarter were killed in action
The total casualties amount to more than a third of the approximately 11,000 DRPK combat troops deployed to the Kursk region. The high rate of DPRK losses in a short time period has almost certainly significantly deteriorated DPRK forces' capacity to conduct offensive combat operations in support of Russia's attempts to push Ukrainian forces out of Kursk.
Despite significant combat casualties, DPRK troops have only achieved tactical gains in Kursk. Russian and DPRK forces are almost certainly experiencing interoperability difficulties. The two forces do not share a common language and DPRK troops almost certainly have difficulties integrating into Russia's command-and-control
structure.

this is a good example of info provided by NASA image.
NASA Image Shows North Korea in the Dark
North Korea has a population of around 24 million people but a photo released by NASA reveals that at night the country is almost completely dark compared to its neighbors China and South Korea. WSJ's Monika Vosough reports. (Photo: NASA)

You’re right. Nothing can be gleaned from light data from satellites
Edit: damn beat me to it

FACT CHECK: Ukraine has achieved near parity in artillery fire with Russia across the front.
FACT CHECK 2: The advancing army will always recover its own dead much more easily than the retreating army.

So Trump confirms we don't have hypersonic missiles. Says Russia stole them from Obama
I am just trying to figure out if Russia stole them from us why don't we have them already.

In the 80's prior to the Iron Curtain falling the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville had a satellite photo of Europe at night. The west was lit up like a Christmas tree and except for population centers huge caps of darkness in the Iron Curtain countries.

If tweet fails to load, click here. They should have started this 1-2 years ago. It would have allowed adequate time for training. Too late now.
It seems Ukraine has alot of people who are unwilling to fight or have skipped the country to avoid it.
